  • I think you have it backwards.

Gas stations don't need to evolve to become restaurants... restaurants needs to simply add chargers.

It isn't even a huge leap for customers to expect it either. Some 15 years ago there was a big push for restaurants and stores and markets to install wifi for their customers. This is not all that different, quite honestly. If a restaurant has 15 parking spots in it's lot, it shouldn't be a huge ask to install a handful of chargers which can be shared by most of the parking spots. Most parking lots already have some kind of power out there for signage or lightpoles. You can tap off that, or go solar.

  • What a bone-headed move. A gas station is not really set up to handle vehicles that might be there for 5x, 10x or maybe even 15x longer than a gasoline car takes to fill up. You'd be far better off, putting them in the parking lot of a local grocery store or movie theater or restaurant.

  • There it is!

There's the idiotic response I was expecting.

But let's be clear, we all know you never even bothered to click on any of the links. You're not looking for answers, you're just here to waste people's time, do some trolling and spread some bullshit around.

  • Yup, keep talking about it instead of actually doing it.

Most Democrat thing ever. Let's discuss this for the next 6 months. We can talk about how it hurts our feelings. Then by the time they finish talking about it, they'll shelve the proposal because they'll state its too close to the elections. Because as always, Dems want to make sure they are fair to their opponents. Then after the election they'll have lost enough seats in the Senate from inaction that they won't be able to do anything. And during none of this time, will Democrats even think about informing the general public about this or make speeches to the military to show how unsupportive to the military the GOP really is.

If this was flipped, and a lone Democrat was holding up hundreds of military promotions, Republicans would be on the news every night talking about how much Democrats hate soldiers. They'd be pressuring the public to get in contact with that Dem. They'd probably be pulling some dirty tricks to make the promotions happen. They would find a way.

  • 279 days would be considered a joke of a sentence, let alone 279 hours!

This is absolutely infuriating. Their punishment should be more severe being that they were military, not lighter.

We are literally asking these traitors to try this again what with these pathetic punishments.

  • Can you apply more pressure for social change if you invite these courses tries into these consortium rather than having them be outliers? I kind of think yes.

Countries will trade no matter what, so welcoming them amd offering trade deals and thus the exchange of ideas flows even more freely seems like a far better option than shunning them and turning them into enemies.

Most importantly: what are they going to change their name to now? BRICS doesn't work if they invite more members.

  • Why the hell would anyone buy these devices when the support is so short? And I'm not even specifically talking about this foldable, rather all these devices from Google and MS? You're basically paying good money for e-waste.

Their slogan should be "here, you throw it away for us".

I really hate Apple for other things, but they rarely pull this kind of crap when it comes to support.

I still have my Sega Genesis that I bought on launch day and up until a year ago,it still worked. Thatsa 30+ year old device. Somewhere in my parents basement is an ancient fake Walkman. It might not work as it,but but if you changed some o-rings, chances are it would work. That's gotta be well over 35 years old. I still have G1 Transformers when they were first released. These are all items that (for the most part), still work. And yet today, people can't even get more than 3 years on most devices. Not because the device is broken. Rather because the device is made to have a very short lifespan on purpose. This shit makes me so damn mad.

I know Europe has flirted with the idea of life cycle product management (can't quite remember the full name). Basically manufacturers are required to take back their products at the end of their life and dispose of them properly. These kinds of programs encourage manufacturers to make their products easier to tear down, and thus also easier to repair, but also to minimize the amount of non recyclable materials. When you put the responsibility on manufacturers to take care of these things, it is in their best interests to keep their products from turning into useless e-waste. It definitely wouldn't solve all the problems of products having super short lives, but it could help because if something is easier to tear down, then it might be easier to maintain ans possibly upgrade.

  • It is kind of hilarious that airplanes are seen as being safe and reliable, when if they were given the same factor of safety as most other consumer goods, they'd never get off the ground from being too heavy.

I do NOT recommend you do this, but if a ladder says it is designed for 300 lbs, then it should carry 1200 lbs. 4X is a fairly common factor of safety for things like ladders where people's lives are in jeopardy. Most other items are usually 2X. (I want to point out that there are qualifications to this... static loading and dynamic loading are totally different things. Also a simple point load is not the same as a cantilevered loading condition. A new piece of equipment is not the same as one abused on the job for the last 10 years. All these things will dramatically affect safety ratings for things)
