The one that pisses me off more than any other is the stupid animations and fake meters that tax software uses. They throw up this animation of a magnifying glass searching through your tax return as if it is actually doing anything. Ugh, it infuriates me so damn much.

That's awesome. Great pic too. The stray cat population is out of control though - they don't live the longest lives with there being so many of them out there.

Regulations and quality checks on aerospace parts is no joke. More so on stuff that goes out into space and on military hardware, but every single nut and bolt and everything in between can be traced back to a supplier and that supplier will be able to tell you when it was made, by who and even where the raw material came from and show you the certs. Regular airplanes not nearly as strict or as much paperwork, but it isn't that far behind, quite honestly.

Also, you might be surprised by the testing that ladders go through. Not so much the cheapo Chinesium stuff, but safety in all fields is no joke. It is too costly to skimp on testing.

It comes from the personality-type that would normally vote Dem. All this "kumbaya" bullshit gets them nearly every single time.

Once again Democrats bend over backwards to be as fair as possible. Too fair, in fact. And then Republicans just throw that out the window when they gain power.

I'm actually more pissed off at the Democrats and their endless naivete, because I know that Republicans will stop at nothing to fuck over their opponents that I entirely expect them to pull stunts like this. How the fuck have Democrats not learned this? Republicans have been pulling shit like this for literally decades now.

That's the AI Bubble getting bigger and bigger and bigger and when it finally bursts all these same companies that have been over-hyping it are going to claim "how could we have known it was all BS?".

Tesla stock is down 2% today, and down 12% over the last 12 mo. The funny part is that Musk, unlike Trump, has more money than god and 100% doesn't need Putin or anyone else for that matter. He's also not shy about saying anything controversial or anything like that, so it is very, very weird what Putin might possibly have over Musk's head. Unlike Trump who was rumored to have golden shower videos over his head, I highly doubt sex-stuff would bother Musk one bit. And of course money is immaterial to him at this point - Tesla stock could go to 0 and Musk would still be one of the richest people on the planet. And being as rich as he is, power comes naturally. Such a weird dynamic.

That's about the same praise he gave to Trump.

And just like Trump, Musk is a piece of shit as well.

We need a more robust connection more than we need a faster connection.

All USB/thunderbolt variants feel like they are a sneeze away from snapping. It's one thing if yiu are connecting things that aren't meant to be moved around, but damn do they feel flimsy for mobile devices that could get bumped around.

I think they are closer than you might think. You obviously can't consider what it would cost to set up wifi using today's technology. You'd have to consider early 2000s tech and what that cost. Also for EV chargers today, many areas have rebate programs to reduce costs. There's also the incentive to charge for the electricity - turn it into a money maker for the business.

Outdated devices can't run some newer apps. If yiu can't get security updates, then some banking or online trading apps might not run. Many businesses use 2FA. I might be wrong, but if a device isn't being updated for security then the device can't use used for 2FA. Similar deal with using it for payment at a store or using it as your key on your newer model car.

It all starts to steamroll.

I think it is a mix. Some of the people you mention might have first heard about this nonsense from some bad actor (fascists posing as liberals) who was spreading lies, and now they are taking up the mantel for real.

When it all comes down to it, the regular Left (not the extreme "liberal guilt" idiots) do an awful job at getting their point across to middle America. They do a terrible job at communicating with average Joes. They don't understand how to connect with real people. They do such a bad job at it, that they actively push away people who should be welcomed to their fold.

On the flip side, Republicans have done an amazing job at painting themselves as "real Americans" and have commandeered the blue collar, hardworking, cowboy, freedom-loving image all while their number one lord emperor is a billionaire from the bluest of states who shits in a gold plated toilet and wants to over-rule democracy. It is a master-class in marketing and image.

It's like some of these people ENJOY losing elections just so they have something to bitch and moan about. They will find any position to be as abrasive and counter to public opinion as they can possibly think of just to be edgy. Your "defund the police" is a perfect example. I hate the cops as much as anyone else, but holy fuck is the defund movement so utterly ridiculous. Push for more accountability. Push for better training. Push for more public involvement in PD duties. But for fucks sakes most regular folks don't want to see their police departments shuttered due to lack of funds.

Hell, many of the communities barely show up when you search within Lemmy!
