  • I am an American all aboard the "America has some serious issues" wagon, but dude not wearing ear protection was doing so against every single rule. If he got caught by the wrong person him and his boss would be in deep shit. Everything else you said is pretty accurate though. At least for big cities, the type of place tourists go. Just remember 90% of the country is not there. You visited the worst places in the country. It's still bad though. It is a dog eat dog country and very little help for the needy. The help that there is takes so many hoops to jump through that some people with any problems just can't do it and they don't have any advocates.

  • Then owning a gun in a civilized country with no legitimate threat from outside forces to it's individual civilians and a military that has higher funding than the next 10 countries combined should not be a right in the 21st century. It should however be a privilege that you have the most basic of accountability for.

  • Mental health is the issue. Just like anyone who would drive a car through a school yard mowing down kids, that person has mental issues. The vehicles driver should be licensed and the owner should be registered. I am a gun toting liberal in a state with essential zero gun laws. I believe in the second ammendment, but not absolute. You should be able to have a gun, but you should be licensed (psyc eval, background check, gun safety classes requirement) and your guns should be registered. If a gun you own ever kills someone, you are responsible. Your gun is your responsibility to keep locked up and if it's stolen you should have reported it.

  • Is there a working ad block for the youtube app on android? Always been on android, never been able to block ads on YouTube. NewPipe and Using YouTube from a browser are both shit experiences.

  • Not gonna lie, I have cut a bunch of subscriptions but youtube premium is the one I tried to cut and couldn't fucking do it. Even before the ad block debacle. It was impossible to block ads on mobile (where I spend most If my youtube time) . I tried new pipe but that experience honestly sucked. THE ADS ARE FUCKING ABSURD. Like literally unusable fucking garbage. I've had premium for years and got spoiled I guess but if I couldn't afford premium youtube would go into the graveyard of the 2023 internet enshitification along with Netflix and reddit. Even $30 a month for my family is worth it. It is 90% of my entertainment now that reddit is gone.

It sucks because it is a synthetic, created need. That ad revenue doesn't go to creators, they have their own ads. The need for youtube premium is purely due to their extortion. But I submit, they win. Clicking a video you want to watch and seeing those yellow hash marks on the time bar makes me want to put my head through a wall and youtube premium makes all that anger just... not be.

  • If I've learned anything over the past few years the prices of vehicles will double in the coming decade as a "fuck you" to the working class. If you can't beat em, starve em out. And they'll be God damned if the CEOs will take the hit.

  • The expanse goes into some interesting generational changes between people who live on earth, Mars, and in the asteroid belt. Belters are tall and scrawny and when they go to earth they can't stand and the gravity crushes their bones, extremely painful. The only way they can be there comfortably is in water. I'd imagine different areas with different "weather " would have different types of adaptations and travel wouldn't be as common/easy.

  • I'm not sure how I feel about the president having the ability to remove social media posts. While there should a way to control people saying stuff that goes against every fact of science that people actually educated in the field agree on as a majority. But it makes me feel uneasy giving that power to the president. I am sure Trump wouldn't have abused that precedent at ALL.

  • Yes, the average person doesn't know how to install Linux or what a distro is. That's a fact. If you can successfully switch to Linux you are BY FAR more tech literate than most. Doesn't mean you're smart though.
