  • I know it's kind of a trend but I think that is the case because so many people identify with it.

I wouldn't have cared about the label itself it if wouldn't have come with a vast amount of knowledge and explanations for many aspects of my life. This is why I cared about this and why I talk about it with others, because deep diving into the topic has helped me learn a lot more about myself more than anything else in my life and it explains many of my interactions with others as well as other peoples behaviours.

And to be honest many of the struggles of people on the authism and ADHD spectrum are not really something that can be solved with typical self improvement tactics, it's something to manage or maybe to medicate, but if you haven't found out that you fit the label it would be impossible to figure this out.

  • Think about your average Joe/Joanne. Are they someone who are willing to go against the status quo? Are they someone always ready to try new things? Are they someone not afraid to express themselves and be an actual individual?

That's why it's called normal because it's the most widespread, but I agree with you, normal is not something I want in my life and that already puts me on a spectrum somewhere.

  • This is just my opinion. Lemmy doesn't conform to many of the current standards of reduced friction for the user. Before joining you have to figure out that there are more than one servers that you could join and make a decision which one you want to be on and depending on your choice you have to take a mini interview and/or be approved by someone to join. After joining you probably either deal with an ugly page design that someone created like in the hi5/GeoCities days or you have to choose one of the milion apps that are available for it. While browsing you have to figure out that there are duplicate communities and figure out which ones you want to subscribe to and figure out what kind of sorting works best for you on your main page. And in order to discover more communities you go to All where you see a bunch of unhinges stuff that either you learn how to block or you ignore.

By the time you are having a seamless experience you have truly past the test of being somewhere on the spectrum, because no normal person will ever put up with all this, as could be seen with the user gain of mastodon vs bluesky after Twitter went to shit. The platform with less friction even though more closed and proprietary gained more users.

  • In recent years we've come to the conclusion that autism is much broather than previously understood and than many more people fall om its' spectrum. People that have an account on a platform like Lemmy are automatically highly probably autistic in some way because or the barrier to entry and specific interests that normal people wouldn't even bother with.

  • In theory it makes sense but in the past buying digitally as opposed to physically hasn't netted anyone any savings. And with the new system where the card doesn't even hold the actual game, it's an even worse offering.

  • True, what you described is basically all there is to it, but in my opinion the corrupted versions where the SM is doing backlog management or where the rest of the company structure doesn't change just the dev team are more damaging than the more codified versions of it.

  • Sure, part of the job of the SM is to teach a PO that they need to research the market, but bridging the gap sounds like your saying the SM should find these things out for themselves and that's just not true. The SM by definition is less technically minded that the PO. They deal with processes, data and people, not with product specs and market research.

  • If everything is displayed in the same language then sort by the displayed language. You don't want to have to search for Spanish near the E letter because it's sorted by the original espanol in the background since that's not what you as the user sees.

  • The scrum master is not a product owner and shouldn't be providing scope or anything for that matter in tickets. No wonder agile is hated and dying, it's been corrupted beyond recognition by people who have no reading comprehension.

  • I beg you, please take care of yourself if it's needed, take time off, relax, get help from others. I think you have a philosophy to not take money out of the donations, but speaking as one of the contributors, I think that's unfair considering the amount of work you put in.

What I'm saying is just do what it takes to not let it lead to burnout. I don't think anyone that understands the value of this instance would mind.

  • The developer, Spiders, seem to be experts at creating mediocre games with very small budgets, and again they didn't quite have the money to take it all the way with greedfall, but they did make more than a mediocre game in my opinion. For me it was memorable enough unlike others mentioned in this thread.

  • You enabled in your settings to see porn, steam keeps it disabled by default. They even give 3 different options for the level of prudishness that you want. Go to store preferences and disable sexual content and you're done.

  • Games @lemmy.world

It genuinely upsets me that Valve spent their time and resources on another Dota variation

    Sync for Lemmy @lemmy.world

Is there an auto hide read feature?
