  • Not being combative but I actually believe there's zero social contact... It's an illusion of privilege. The fact that we even get to quibble about mod / admin behavior is at their whim. Now, sure, the ultimate conclusion could be that everyone leaves and they're a mod of no one, but there's a whole lot of sausage to be made between here and "server is empty"

  • Actually that would be funny, with like, a webcam of a little coin flipper bot.

Anyway I was highlighting a core feature of the fediverse...mods and especially admins are beholden to noone. All standards are a courtesy

  • There's posts all over with CEO faces and names and pretty transparent text related to the "adjuster" finding them.

I get the motivation but it is pretty clear they are saying "hey go kill these specific people"

And countless comments, even in this post saying "all X deserve to die"

Now before people assume me an apologist, my preferred solution would be letting Bernie, AOC, and Warren off the leash to criminalize the profiteering rampant in our society, while nationalizing all basics such as basic shelter, healthcare, education, advocacy, and nutrition.

    A society is measured by it's poorest/weakest.

  • Does this discussion really require ableist slurs?

Like, people are arguing about jury nullification when slurs are just flying around from .world users... What's judicial process matter at that point?

  • That's true in general.

Indeed I've witnessed Palestine denial on .world, but I'd hardly call it the prevailing sentiment on any mainstream comm there. Each time the comment would be ratioed and loudly disagreed with, which is encouraging.

I will acknowledge that .world mods have some serious pet projects and issues which is very concerning.

  • The point is VoCs and plastic particles move to other surfaces more readily (or to the air) once heated. Kids who play with toys breathe the air around them. The also touch them, and sometimes chew on them. I fail to see the meaningful difference.

  • Agree I feel fortunate to have found a doctor(and their PA, and their staff) who feels like my own personal swat team to get my treatments. I am not wealthy and don't have gold plated coverage, I just found a winner.

It's so much paperwork and phone tag.

  • Walk or run or hike in a natural environment nearly every day. It might be early or late but I go nearly every day for at least a few miles.

I have a headlamp and a flashlight with a fuck-you-ultra-bright strobe mode for when it's dark and I don't worry about animals (quadruped or otherwise).

  • I'm with you on this. Even if you are trolling objectively bad people, it's a bizarre way to spend time and is certainly not healthy. You aren't going to change their minds or behavior, and are latching yourself to their goings-on in an unhealthy parasocial relationship.

  • The thing is they see anything remotely right of them as equal to being a card carrying SS Nazi. They have no capacity to consider shades of gray, incremental progress, etc. It's all or nothing, fuck you if you don't abide.

If you aren't dogmatically against absolutely positively every single detail of life in the west, you aren't good enough.

  • 2002, Driving at night, across farm fields with trees around. My buddy in the car.

A very bright blue light crossed my path maybe 20 yards ahead of my car and maybe 10 yards up. It was moving fast, illuminating the ground in a spot light way and hugged the terrain. I could see the shape of a dark fuselage but could not describe it at all.

If it was a helicopter or jet or even prop plane it was absurdly close to the ground, at night, with obstacles around. We could not hear what we would expect (as if it were a helicopter). We had windows down, radio off. We were just chatting.

I slammed on the brakes and my buddy yelled "of fuck" and put his hands out at the exact same moment I reacted.

We watched it zip over the treeline and horizon, any chance to hear whatever noise it made was covered by the windows down wind noise, and the slammed brakes and gravel. We stood in the bed of my truck hoping it would come back and trying to rationalize it for like, almost an hour. Eventually we convinced ourselves it must have been a helicopter but in discussion days/years later, neither of us buy that. I've seen footage of an Apache helicopter flying low at night, but this seemed even lower still.

I can't claim anything about it other than it really freaked us out and was unlike any aircraft or drone I've been around since.
