  • I think Canada's gun control laws would be one of the biggest factors preventing Alaska joining. Many people depend on their guns there for hunting, defense against wildlife for themselves or their animals, and for self defense. Many people live remotely where police response times may not be fast enough to respond to a violent situation.

  • You could argue the NDP has a lot of meaningful changes that could boost that demographic, in my experience social media has them tricked into thinking its other poor people or their natural fate keeping them poor, not the exploitatative practices of corporations and oligarchs.

  • It really sucks that the poor and working class demographics would rather vote for a party that doesn't give a shit about them and will strip away social safety nets like healthcare and education funding. Whatever it takes to own the libs and fuck Trudeau i guess.

  • They might have to hunt for you, but you could share your decades of experience and advice. You could remember how the group pulled through a drought, what herbs have medicinal properties, where the best foraging is at certain times of the year. Just passing down folk lore and oral tradition is an important role.

  • So don't rent that specific condo if you have a car. It is supposed to be an affordable development and cars are expensive. Many people who need affordable housing the most don't own a car and the land close to transit and bike lanes should be prioritized for them instead of cars.

  • Why does another country with a private health care system even have a say in Canada's mostly socialized healthcare? Are they worried if they make it the 51st state, the other 50 will demand healthcare?

Pay very close attention to how politicians respond to these threats and vote accordingly.

  • I could see him supporting it while running for a second term. I doubt he would want to do more than 2 terms and it would be an excellent parting gift to Canadians. It would be great if we could have leaders who recognize the issues with some voters feeling like they have to vote strategically and try to fix that with electoral reform. Many politicians would rather stick to the game they know of being better than the other candidiate than learn how to make competitive platforms and push for new solutions.

  • I don't think he wants to do anything at all with electoral reform given the prevous track record of the liberals promising it and the eagerness for conservatives to find slander. If asked my guess is he would give a "this isn't Canada's biggest issue right now" type response.
