  • Liberal policies made us reliant on the US but aren't the conservatives saying they are going to protect Canada's sovereignty by trading with the US and using those profits to invest in the military? Wouldn't that make us dependent on the US to solve the sovereignty issue that was started by the US?

  • As a young person (<30), many older (50-75) people keep telling me its my only hope to vote conservative if I ever want to afford a home and have a good paying job. Present any opposition they'll claim you're following the lies and dooming yourself, and you are also now part of the problem in their eyes.

  • I think its one of those you don't know what you got til its gone. They love being able to go camp in the woods and escape the city but also want companies to have to follow no environmental laws or regulations to maximize profits. All that is great until the nature filled campground they brought their kids too is just stumps and an acidified lake from a lack of environmental regulations by the time their kids are adults.

  • This ban still happened recently. There are lots of "legal" handgun owners who are not military/police. There is also the grandfathering of guns as well as certain exsecurity like brinks workers, and positions like game wardens in the MNR. All these employees still had to get their training and lisenceing just like anyone else through the same courses.

  • This is false. Before the ban RPAL holders could aquire certain handguns. They still had to keep them locked away 24/7 and inform the correct authorities if they ever moved it, like taking it to the range or changing apartments.

  • Ah geez its so hard for our kids and our grandkids to make ends meet. We better vote for the party that wants to privatize public services and cut funding for socials programs. That coupled with all the tax breaks for the rich will really pull them through the economy. I just wish there was more we could do.

  • The vast majority of gun crime is commited with illegal firearms or firearms stolen from legal owners. IMO money would better be spent on better enforcement of illegal firearms and compliance checks on legal owners rather than spending the money buying backs guns that were obtained legally and have not been used for crimes.

  • I always explain it along the lines of "increased immigration didnt cause the housing crisis, it was just the final catalyst needed for people to notice it".

Maybe the crisis had finally gone on long enough to be noticed or maybe people felt more comfortable now that had someone to blame but reality is this crisis has been decades in the making.

The moment cities started ripping out street cars and bulldozing buildings to build parking lots was when the crisis officially began IMO.

  • The green belt is an important wildlife corridor and it helps to protect surface water and ground water recharge areas. The benefits of a few mcmansions built in a desireable area are not worth the long term consequences of destroying the greenbelt.

Lets stop kicking the can down the road and finally address the factors that caused this crisis like sprawl and zoning.
