  • Regardless of where you get your secondhand drives do yourself a favor and make sure they package them correctly (antistatic bag, 1-2inches of bubblewrap and a cardboard box) by messaging for that. That's my biggest complain when I brought used drives. Think Serverpartdeals and goharddrive are the main eBay sellers with great reps but I sadly haven't done business with them so can't verify

  • I'd go the mini PC/sff route, on eBay for instance you can get like a HP EliteDesk 800 G3 for around 50-80$ depending if you want a drive and adapter included think that's the best bang for the buck. I would've recommended buying a 20-30$ onn android TV box but seeing how restricted android tv is from another post kinda made me rethink that.

Edit: also if you can wait like a year more I bet the market will be flooded with cheap mini/sff desktops.

  • I skimmed it but honestly I would just feel things out its kinda early to tell. Continue to hangout and if sparks fly then good, if not at least you have a work friend to hangout with. Just keep things PG because she is still a coworker even though she's from a different building.

  • Damn that is interesting as hell I honestly had no clue I really appreciate it. Think I'll order one with my next paycheck and a wrist strap

Edit: Just so I can understand 100% since the conductivity of the mat is doing most of the work why wouldn't a sheet of conductive metal work here? Assuming both the person and electronic is in contact.
