  • Lol. If your relationship has improved significantly becsuse you've taken some short term acting drugs then it either wasn't a problem in the first place or you're lying to yourself.

Are people here not in relationships? You must have intense fantasies to think long term issues can be solved by short term solutions.

  • If you can't fix your marriage normally, just drink/take drugs so you're too smashed to worry about whether you actually like your partner!

    Solid advice.

In related news, if you're unfulfilled in your current relationship, just cheat/spend time with others to fill the gaps! Problem solved.

  • Ultimately it will all be anecdotal.

I've done plenty of upgrades without issues.

And I've tried Linux and found it abysmal with way too much of the sorts of issues you've mentioned.

So for me Linux is obviously a no go, but I could see why it would appeal perhaps to someone like yourself. Ultimately we are directed by our experiences.

  • Everyone says to just keep it at Windows 10 or that Windows 11 is not that bad as that's the majority of people. It's a small group that says to just use Linux, and if you think it's everyone it suggests you are in an echo chamber/don't participate widely enough in various communities.

  • Oh I agree completely that it is an issue with say NVidia in this case. But it's also pretty reasonable to understand why. You're not going to spend that many resources on a small market segment when most of it is just Windows at end of day, so makes sense to optimise for that distribution.

And fair enough for the rest. I haven't tried in the last 5 years or so and it has generally been when upgrading to a brand new comp and deciding which OS to use so could just be bad timing on my part.

  • Lol. People are way too tribalistic about their favourite products.

I'm not even saying anything negative - adding AI to your product is not a big deal, and they'll do it when it makes sense to. Not sure why you have an issue with that/don't understand that's their intent as it's very clearly stated by them.

Literally here you go: "Despite all this, we feel that the field on machine learning in general remains an exciting one and may lead to features that are actually useful. In the future, we hope that it will allow us to bring good privacy-respecting features to our users with a focus on improving discoverability and accesibility. "

  • Yeah they did, but with some nice words around it all.

Did you read the article? It's literally that llms are not at a stage where they're useful. And then they end that once they become useful they'll look at adding them in.

And Vivaldi is a business like any other, so it's ultimately commercially driven. If you think they're just running the business for the sake of being good then you're incredibly naive.

  • This is a super clickbait title.

Yes, what Microsoft does is pretty shitty but the article sounds like there's some massive zero day hack or something to watch out for when it's just standard business practice.

  • The crap people write nowadays.

It's surprisingly easy to live without any subscription. I don't have any. If you're tech savvy you can either block most ads that subscriptions give you, or bypass the service entirely and get free premium or just dl videos/music etc.

And as the services get worse there's little incentive to actually keep a subscription. Netflix is becoming pretty dogshit for example.

  • On PC, Group tabs for me. I find it extremely useful for efficiency. There's nothing equivalent on Firefox even with extensions.

I could just give up on them admittedly but once you get used to something it's hard to change and I fucking hate having too many tabs open.

On Android, the performance was just worse than chromium based browsers. Not sure if it was something wrong with my settings, but I'm talking like at least 1-2 second lag differences in loading a basic Web page. Makes it unusable for me.

  • Honestly, I've tried switching but can't find a browser that works as well. I found Kiwi Browser on Android which is still chromium based but at least it's something, but still need to use Chrome from time to time as websites won't work on Kiwi.

Firefox just doesn't perform as well comparatively, lacks features and then as you go down the list of alternatives it gets worse and worse.

So not from lack of trying, but at least for me it is the best browser particularly if you can install enough extensions to remove a lot of garbage.
