  • Because he is a foreigner, a foreign influence on our elections. and just as bad as the Republicans in trying to change Canada into something it isn't - subservient to a foreign power. We do not tolerate Xi trying to influence our elections, we should not tolerate the Pope in trying to influence our elections. Not opposing him is what gave him the power he has over all Canadians, not just Catholic Canadians.

  • These are 'starter homes' only in theory. Really, they are investment properties for rental purposes. One would be foolish to put any more than 10% down on them, you could get a better return by investing the money elsewhere and using rental income to pay the mortgage. No intelligent person in today's market would actually purchase one of these dormitories for their own residence. Even less would one pay out the entire price or even a large fraction of it to buy one for rental income, the return on investment would be far too low. You would get a higher return from GIC's.

That's why so many are just walking away from their pre-payments. They can not justify getting a mortgage for the remainder, and they probably can not get one anyway, given that there is no equity in the property. The mortgage would have to be greater than the unit is worth.

  • Amnesty International is in many aspects a spokesperson for the Vatican. Nothing they say about China can be considered truthful or factual.

The Chinese have nothing against the Uighur. They are, in fact, living prosperously and peacefully in China. It is the Uighur terrorists that China has effectively dealt with, and most of the Uighur people support the Chinese efforts. They can now live in peace, free from the terrorist bombings and intimidation.

In point of fact, American bombings of the Uighur terrorists killed more Uighur children and citizens than the deaths in China, yet not a word about this massacre the Americans committed against the Uighur. It was this massacre of Uighur civilians that forced them into China in the first place, and it is these displaced Uighur who are doing all the agitating. They HAD a homeland - in Afghanistan. The Americans evicted them from their homeland.

Incidentally, it was Trump who ordered the massacre.

  • For those who want the evidence here is but a smattering of Catholic-sponsored posts in the last weeks of the election. All have one thing in common - vote for a candidate who believes in abolishing abortion rights, and who will support other Catholic objectives. Only one candidate fits the bill - PP.

And here is atypical warning shot across the bow in March of things to come if Carney does not toe the Catholic agenda

The message was clear - ban abortion rights or face defeat.

And in the last weeks poll numbers for PP shot up.

And here is their response to the election, directly from the pens of the Bishops. The Bishops in Canada take their marching orders from the Vatican, a foreign entity in our elections.

  • Something is amiss. The original CTV headline is "Canadian game company to be rebranded after sale to Quebec toy maker" but the headline on this article is "GameStop Canada bought by Quebec toy maker, to be rebranded EB Games", a violation of the community rule 1 "Keep the original title when submitting an article. You can put your own commentary in the body of the post or in the comment section.'

  • In the last two weeks of the election campaign, several prominent Catholic news outlets, periodicals, Catholic internet blogs, and other Catholic publications, some officially endorsed by the Catholic Church (mostly available by subscription only and thus only came to the attention of Catholics, thus avoiding general public scrutiny and comment) came out strongly that it was the duty of ALL Catholics to NOT support the Liberals or other left-leaning parties; and completely condemned Carney for deserting his Catholic faith, even though Carney was a regularly practicing Catholic. They all did it collectively, in what was obviously a planned, coordinated, conspiratorial centrally directed process. It was driven by the highest levels of the Catholic Church, as was made clear in many of the official Catholic sites, as the OFFICIAL viewpoint of the Catholic Church ((i.e., the Vatican). This was, I posit, the main reason for the dramatic shift in the polls, raising the Conservatives up 5 or six points.

The media condemns the foreign influence on our elections, and we tell Trump to stay out of our elections, yet we say nothing about a foreign power and foreign entity - the Pope and the Vatican - meddling in our sovereign elections.

We will never have free and fair elections from a Canadian perspective, Canadian culture, Canadian values, Canadian history, Canadian identity, as long as we allow a foreign religion-based Empire to influence them.

  • There can be little doubt that many ‘protestors’ described in the article, operating in name of the Church, were fascists definitely invoking fascist methods in trying to ensure the Pope was from their political dogmatic position. Not a faith-based lower-case ‘c’ church institution following a theological position, but a capital ‘C’ Church as a political entity and position. I again make clear I was talking about the Church as a political Empire, not the faith-based Catholic religious themselves. This I hope was clear in my reference to The Roman Catholic (Empire) Church. In point of fact, there was a Holy Roman Empire, a resurrection of the Roman Empire, created by a Pope as a ‘state/political’ arm of the Roman Catholic Church. There was, and some would argue, still is a Holy Roman Empire closely associated with the Roman Catholic Church, so as to be relatively interchangeable depending on the purpose.

My point is that fascism is far more prevalent in our Western culture than many realize. It is, indeed, the current Western zeitgeist. It is not just a movement to influence State Elections, but to entrench itself in every facet of human governance, including the leadership of the Church (and, I posit, the church - all churches).

  • Okay, I just noticed rule 1 for the community is not the same as rule 1 for Lemmy. I did not notice that rule. Sorry. I really do not understand the purpose of that rule. Makes no sense. Why can we not post our own thoughts, and then support them with a link to an article as background support?

  • I have yet to see a post linked to an article where the article's title and the headline of the post were exactly the same. Read the article. It was about the fascist influence on the selection of the Pope, whether it was in the title of the article or not. Rule number 1 is about bigotry.

  • If you read the article that was linked, you will realize that there is no bigotry in my post. It did not violate rule 1. There can be little doubt that many 'protestors' described in the article, operating in name of the Church, were fascists definitely invoking fascist methods in trying to ensure the Pope was from their political dogmatic position. Not a faith-based lower-case 'c' church institution following a theological position, but a capital 'C' Church as a political entity and position. I made clear I was talking about the Church as a political Empire, not the faith-based Catholic religious themselves. This should have been clear in my reference to The Roman Catholic (Empire) Church. In point of fact, there was a Holy Roman Empire, a resurrection of the Roman Empire, created by a Pope as a 'state/political' arm of the Roman Catholic Church.

Discussing the fascist nature of a sector that, according to the article, is trying to dominate the selection of the Pope is fair game. The irony of your statement is that the true bigots are the ones behind the protests, the fascists themselves.

  • Evil, corrupt, and malicious have nothing to do with fascism, although many fascist entities are all three. Read most definitions, and these terms are not in it. This is typical of the fascist trope - redefine terminology to suit their needs. Applying these three concepts to the 'woke' movement. for instance, and then labeling the 'woke' movement as 'fascist'.

Microsoft certainly qualifies, and so does Musk. Musk does not want to 'rule over humankind', he just believes he is superior to everyone, the same way all narcissists do. He wants everyone to do his biding but otherwise he has no desires over how they live their lives.

However, the Roman Catholic (Empire) Church IS all three - evil, corrupt, and malicious. But that has nothing to do with it being fascist, that is just the natural outcome of absolute power in a fascist culture.

Being 'racist' has, at its basic tenant, has nothing to do with 'race' as much as it has to do with 'being other than me'. A Catholic believing that all other religions are inferior to them is just as much a manifestation of 'racism' as discrimination by skin color.

  • Ahh, yes.Typical obfuscation to make it look innocent. Typical response of the Catholic fascist movement. Corporations have many characteristics of fascism, and I definitely do not think it is an admirable quality about them. I repeat my contention that fascism is the zeitgeist of current Western thought. Because it is so prevalent in Western culture does not make it 'watered down'. The difference is, corporations have no desire to rule over humankind, only to dominate their respective industry. You obviously have not read the article. The Vatican is about as far removed from being responsive to a democratic public as the assassination of Pope John Paul I
