  • After the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, there was a minor trend to call them USers.

  • The Breen is something you need the moral support of others to watch. I traumatised a colleague by making him and another friend watch Twisted Pair with me. I watched two Breens alone after that, since the other two refused to watch any more with me, and it was painful.

"I'm not seeing another psychiatrist. I'm not. I'm not seeing another psychiatrist. I'm not seeing another psychiatrist. I'm not."

(Is that lines from a Breen film, or my reaction after watching a Breen film?)

They maintain the Breen is a troll, but I think he's got delusions of grandeur and really thinks he's making these deep masterpieces.

  • I don't know, though. I'm someone who gave up on Linux Mint because I just couldn't get it to work properly. I wouldn't say I'm tech inclined. I used a button phone until 2022. I only got a smartphone because my sim stopped working with my Nokia. The only issue I had with Lemmy was the sign up (it was during the reddit exodus so the sign ups weren't going through, but I'm glad cos I nearly joined ml).

Mastodon was easy as heck to join. I got a friend to sign up, no issues, and he has no idea what the fediverse even is.

  • The only time I could see it as white/gold was the first few times I watched this video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xLxVZ8W-aHY

It's been a while, maybe I'll try again.

Edit: nope, doesn't work anymore. Maybe it was the smaller phone I used back then that helped.

  • The high ground was just a ruse. Obi Wan has the advantage on the low ground. Vs Maul and Grievous, he attacked from below. Taunting Anakin about the high ground was just to make Anakin try to get the high ground so Obi Wan could attack from below. Which he did.

Attacking from the low ground in melee combat is advantageous as you can just go for the ankles, as my niece figured out very early on when we used to play lightsaber battles. She'd insist I stand on the bed, and she'd slice off my ankles, it's over, Auntikin, I have the low ground, haha.

  • Nope, I don't think I'd ever heard of it prior to the Arthur version.

We did the fall of Icarus in Year 3. My little sister learned Theseus and the Minotaur when she was around the same age, which is how I knew about it. Other than that, I don't remember studying Ancient Greek anything, not even Heracles. Your school was obviously better than mine.

  • Mine didn't. We did Buddy, The Crucible, Animal Farm and Shakespeare from what I remember. First I heard of the Odyssey was when I was 19 and DW did a retelling of it on Arthur. When I saw a copy of the story in the shop I worked at, I got it so I could read the actual story.

  • Can a catapult launch a 90kg projectile over 300m? No, didn't think so.

  • Nope, not using Firefox on mobile. (I do on Linux mint though, and even with ublock I still got YouTube ads last time I was able to actually connect to the Internet.)

  • I've never got one of those anti-adblocker messages on YouTube and I just use a vanilla browser with no addons and I get zero ads. The Channel 4 website won't let me watch anything without disabling the adblocker, so it's not like my browser is in some super stealth mode where servers can't tell I'm blocking ads. I'm not complaining though.

  • I used to in a previous job. They brought in a thing where if your birthday fell on your usual shift day, you got it off at full pay.

  • Haha, okay, but they're nothing special. I used to buy kits, but now I make them from scratch.

There are for my nieces. I'm currently making a game room for my mate, a full house and I'm thinking of making a mini vinyl shop too.

This was my first attempt at soldering too, as I couldn't find any 3V LEDs prewired. Let's just say it was an adventure, but it was worth it.

  • Thanks, I've been wondering!

  • What did you type? I keep seeing this glyph in messages. I assume it's not supposed to look like this?

  • When you read classic novels and you see the kids having to spend ages trying to figure out how to divide a half crown among 5 kids.

  • I had three adverts slapped on one of my videos on my crummy 4 subscriber channel and I don't get a single penny from it.
