I've seen people (ie USers) say that imperial makes more sense because it's easily divisible by 2, 3, 4 and 6 so it's more intuitive. Yet I've never seen any of these people campaign to ditch their base 100 currency for a more "intuitive" £ s d style system. You already use decimal currency and find it easier than a system where 240¢ makes $1.
I'm getting it on the NHS, so if I ask for a new therapist it might be a 6 month wait, just to get another one who's maybe clueless about autism related anxiety too. I'll try to ask this one to spend a bit of time learning. If she still doesn't then I'll see what the procedure is if I want to switch therapists.
In other news, my GP is helping me get an assessment referral and he said the waiting list is closer to 18 months than three years.
Also, tinned coconut milk is actually labelled coconut milk just fine without a problem.
I wonder how many people might be be put off dairy, even if it's just for a moment before putting it out their mind, if all dairy products were labelled mammary secretions.
I know this is a 4 month old comment, but maybe this explains why I'm just not connecting with my anxiety CBT therapist, whereas I did really well with my phobia CBT therapist.
I'm 5 sessions in and I still feel like she just does not get it. For the second session I even brought in printouts from the National Autistic Society's page on anxiety. She skimmed through, said, This is the same as non autistic people.
She described my difficulty in dealing with new people and social situations as overthinking, and when I told her I don't see it as that at all, spent a lot of time trying to convince me that my processing issues are just overthinking, so I gave in. She admitted herself she has no knowledge of autism and because I don't have an official diagnosis (it's a three year wait now for adults), I think she just dismissed it.
Now I'm wondering if it's worth continuing, because I don't think I'm gaining anything from this.
You might try Allen Carr's easyway book, it's meant to make you give up in a way that you don't even want to smoke anymore, rather than fighting the urge. I'm a non smoker so I can't give my personal experience on it. But it was recommended by some former smokers on the ukcasual community. I bought a used copy for a colleague, but I don't work there anymore, so I'll try to catch up with him sometime and find out how he went with it. I'm currently reading Carr's other book, The Nicotine Conspiracy, and I'm finding it very interesting. (I have an ebook copy of his easyway book if you want it).
It's tricky, because I would feel worse if anyone asked if I was okay. I'm very much an introvert and would just reply with I'm fine, or just pretend to not have heard you. But other people might appreciate the offer of a tissue and a chat.
Well, I mean, I didn't do it on purpose. I prefer to go somewhere private if I need a good cry, but when that's not an option, if I gotta let it out, I'm gonna let it out. I care less about strangers seeing me cry than people I know.
