  • Canada has the best weapon of all: Time. Things might get rough, but we all know that Trump has been getting old. Even if it takes longer than we hope, our economy will adapt to new markets, because it is what economies do.

Just look at what Ukraine has been surviving through for crying out loud. We have it way easier in comparison.

    Canada will outlive Trump.

  • Costco and Loblaws in my area. Costco is even more annoying because it yells instructions on how to use the machine at you at every step. Every time. The moment you approach the machine it yells at you to scan your membership card. Then it yells at you to scan your items. Then it yells at you to put it in the bag area. Then it yells at you to use the PIN pad. Then it yells at you to thank you for shopping at Costco.

I'm wondering how many people got kicked out of the store already for snapping and yelling back at the machine to STFU.

  • One thing that has been annoying me lately are self checkout machines. They play the same pre-recorded message every time you're done using them. Some pointless message in the lines of "Thank you for using self checkout" or "Thanks for shopping with us". You've heard it a dozen times already from the surrounding machines by the time you complete your transaction and then it yells it at you. I feel terrible for the employee who has to stand there all day and have this stupid 3 second recording be the soundtrack of their day. I only have to listen to it for five minutes every week and I hate it already. This message must be playing in their nightmares at night.

  • And I bet the food industry will use it as an excuse to add a whole bunch of greedflation on top of it as well like they did during the pandemic. Especially with the current administration, they know they'll get away with it.

  • Being from an air crew background, there is a lot more to the investigation than simply saying that the aircraft was too high. If it was caused by human error, the investigation will go in excruciating details over what could have contributed to it. What was the person's state of mind at that time. Were they tired, stressed, pressured, inexperienced, overworked, complacent, etc? Were there external factors that contributed to the error like for example the design of the altimeter makes it difficult to read under certain circumstances? Flight investigations are a non-punitive, scientific approach meant to understand exactly the chain of events that lead to the error so we know how to avoid repeating it.

Meanwhile, Trump just wants to blame someone.

  • I bet this thing was actually worth only $25.

The markups have become insane on Amazon.

I remember when Amazon first started there were good deals on good quality items. Then as they secured a dominating position on the market prices started going up but at least the low quality junk items were relatively rare and easy to identify so it was worth a little premium. Then they got rid of that and now it's almost all overpriced junk items sold by shady sellers now.

I almost never use Amazon now unless it's for something specific that I can't find anywhere else.

  • Given an unlimited amount of tries, anything that has a non-zero chance of happening, no matter how unlikely will happen. But what has absolute zero chance of happening will still not happen.
