  • It's a service for the public interest and should be run by local governments, like roads, parks, libraries, fire departments, etc. The end goal of a service isn't to make money but to be used by the community. This is also why running a country as a business doesn't make sense - countries aren't meant to generate profit. A nation is a safeguard for the people within against the unpredictable reality of everyday living.

  • I think their reply was about how the supporters of right wing politics hold community based beliefs, an untapped anarchy streak that is co-opted by right wing propaganda into "muh freedoms".

  • Epstein was killed because he knew things and was still a threat to the rich. Luigi doesn't have anything to say that would hurt the rich anymore. In fact, killing him in prison would be incredibly short sighted by the rich - they need to stop the rest of us from mobilizing in his honor - which killing him out of revenge would not accomplish. The same news sources that tried to make us care about the evil assassin and helpless CEO will now try to character assassinate Luigi and make him a pariah. He can't galvanized a generation if he's a weirdo.

  • Following the death of their CEO, lots of anecdotal evidence of healthcare suddenly improving across the country. If true, it could be that Luigi did a tremendous amount of good for everyone. A jury would be wise to remember the big picture.

  • "Student loans" are now one of the most ubiquitous phrases in politics and it's synonymous with "a burden you can never escape" so it makes sense that the folks who can use assistance will avoid it. The entire fight about student loans has always been to highlight the cost and make some folks turn away from higher education all together. Education has always been under attack for as long as most of us have been alive and this is another front in the war.

First they attack public education and exhaust teachers with overwork with underpayment. Now the right wants to attack Academia, the source of science which shows how destructive the current system has become and how it will evolve. Elon will probably entirely axe FAFSA and funding for higher education, with the aim to have their endowments fed by wealthy elite who dictate what makes it onto a syllabus. The right is so fucking exhausting.
