The woman had red hair and eyebrows, the hair elongated by artificial white extensions. The extensions could have been made of white fur or thin, white-powdered textile streaks. This hairstyle cannot be found in any literature. The skin of the lady was a very pale pink color.

I keep running through the difference between the reaction to this vs elementary school kids dying to gun violence. It's one CEO and everything in the media has galvanized to unite around a singular message of horrible violence. Hundreds of children have died and nothing changed. It's fucking infuriating.

The stories we get on Lemmy are found by folks with similar taste in politics and so are sourced from media which helps reinforce our perspective. This skews our perception to be more inline with what we want at the cost of the reality. It's a service for the public interest and should be run by local governments, like roads, parks, libraries, fire departments, etc. The end goal of a service isn't to make money but to be used by the community. This is also why running a country as a business doesn't make sense - countries aren't meant to generate profit. A nation is a safeguard for the people within against the unpredictable reality of everyday living.
