  • I'm glad I am reading your comments. I am that kitchen novice. And so is my husband. We've been trying to move away from Teflon since we had a baby, and are struggling to make stainless steel worth the extra time it takes to clean. I've been feeling very frustrated that despite trying to do the heat it up and use oil thing, it's still awful, and I figured either we're dumb and bad or everyone online is just lying. We just went back to Teflon, because people online say it should be perfectly non stick and then also that you can only clean the stainless steel with a soft cloth. It's hell.

  • We disagreed for years about the color of our couch. I called it brown. He called it blue. It was a weird grayish brown colored couch, but because it was labeled "slate" when he bought it, he insisted it was blue. We then added a teal blue couch to our house which just solidified my "this is the brown couch" position. We do not, to this day, agree. Eventually we got rid of the couch.

  • I spent so long on the 3DS in ocarina of time just running all over the entire map not sure how to progress, I eventually gave up. Those stupid boulders are supposed to give you tips but idk I just couldn't figure it out back then.

  • It's hard for me to imagine AI taking over a majority of jobs even in 10 years. My boss at my last job had me print Excel files for him so he could look at the hard copies. And he was only like 38. I think people on lemmy overestimate how tech savvy people are. I worked in the construction industry and even office side, people were barely tech literate. No way will they be able to utilize AI when so much of their business is still on hard paper.

  • My kid's breath. I know it won't last forever. I thought it would go away once she's wasn't a newborn anymore, but now she's about a year and a half old and every time I accidentally get a whiff I feel addicted to it

  • You should stay with your parents until you have a solid childcare situation. Childcare is nutso expensive, but also nerve-wracking to not know for sure if your kid is being treated well. It's possible your mom may still be willing and happy to pitch in even if you're out on your own, but right now if your kid is sick and has to stay home from school, I'm guessing your mom takes over and you don't have to miss work. That's crazy valuable.

  • My family is all on messenger, and so it's either gotta be me or my husband using it or else we won't know any of the family plans (or daily discussions which is my main source of socialization.) Same goes for my friend group. I'd be very lonely without it, so that ends up a lot more important than my moral objections to meta.

  • No one in the comments seems to point out: all of your needs and wants are being met, but the fact that she sought an external relationship indicates that her needs and wants are not being met.

If you're ok with the cheating and want to keep her, you probably need to look into why she feels she isn't getting what she needs at home (which as others have mentioned, is ok if you're both open to an open marriage!)

I'm sorry she wasn't open with you about her needs being met, and I'm sorry she went behind your back to meet them. I hope you'll both be ok, man.

  • I mean that's tough. Unless you have an unemployed family member who can take on the care, and even then it has to be a physically strong and frankly mentally strong person to do the kind of care elderly folks require. It's just not feasible for most families.

My grandmother is physically disabled and has dimentia. Some weeks are hell taking care of her, and she's one of the gentlest people with dimentia I have ever met. ( I used to work in a memory care facility, which is a big reason she's at home with us)

  • They actually already have a thing that basically turns the people on camera to stick figures. You can turn it off if you need to, but a quick check can see that they're up and moving around vs fallen down without invading their privacy too much at least
