Why weren't those monetary subsidies just after the fact instead of just paying out on promises? "You'll get x billion dollars when y% of this area has access to z Mbps." But then again I've heard there's monopolies for that in the USA, instead of actual competition.

Strictly speaking copyright also means that the copyright holder is the only one that is allowed to either copy the content or grant permissions to copy it, thus any of us making copies of things to be sure we don't lose access to it are truly breaking that. But I would be a lot more conflicted about it if the system wasn't like it currently is and it wasn't almost only big corporations that seem to benefit.

It's good that someone else also understand that value of goods doesn't increase during inflation, but that the value of currency decreases. If the value of a good increases then that means you need to exchange more of other goods to get the same value as that good that increased in value. Add in that goods often have different values to different people.

Oh, and I disagree with your assertion that you can't get out of living paycheck to paycheck on 7.25 an hour. It's obviously harder, because everyone has a minimum amount of money necessary just to live, but I've lived on 5.5 an hour when calculated as 7.5 hours 5 days a week 4 weeks a month (because that was easier to calculate; the actual monthly spend that 5.5 was calculated from was calculated at 30 days per month instead of the 28 the per hour calculation was made from (and if the per hour calculation was made more exact it would lower the effective remuneration per hour necessary to survive that month))

Well, living paycheck to paycheck isn't directly tied to your salary, but to your spending versus your salary. So they could easily live paycheck to paycheck, but it's probably less common with that amount of income. I do agree with you that I don't think Google engineers live paycheck to paycheck.

As long as it's just text you don't have the same insane needs for storage and data throughput as something using a lot of images and video. Keeping it contained to a small amount of topics for yourself also decreases how much it's used and the corresponding costs associated. Since it then is spread over very many people the costs don't get too wild for each person. Remember also that the "internet death hug" is a thing that can happen more readily to smaller disparate sites.
