  • While I don't disagree with you on the gun issue. This particular instance just looks like intended murder. I have a feeling this child would have been killed regardless of the gun. You don't just accidentally put a gun to a child's chest and shoot.

  • Fair, but I meant more along the lines of what the everyday user will need. After a certain point, what more do you really need on a phone or standard PC? Sure, servers and supercomputers can always take more, but for the average consumer is it really that useful?

  • Outdated hardware isn't really as important on a phone than it is as a PC. Unless you are gaming on your phone, phone hardware is plenty powerful enough these days for the grand majority of tasks.

The software updates are the biggest concern and they intend to do 10 years of updates. That is more than long enough for this device before it becomes obsolete.

  • Under normal circumstances that would make sense, however that is just sidestepping a major problem that needs to resolved. They could just post CSAM to wherever becomes popular.

  • I think it would be better to say "Twitter, currently branded as X" it is both useful and makes it look like it is just a cringy phase a teenager might go through temporarily. So you should just ignore the change and it will eventually resolve itself.

  • I am not defending this dumbass, but how much fuel are you using if you go directly back and forth compared to a car which has to take a variety of different directions to get there? It still is bad regardless as helicopters use avgas, which is leaded.

  • Its not easy to build a social media app, forking it won't make it any easier to solve this particular problem. Joining forces to tackle an inevitable problem is the only solution. The Lemmy devs are more than willing to accept pull requests for software improvements.

  • There is a bit of irony that those most willing to make said ultimate evolutionary sacrifice for the betterment of the world are potentially the least to be likely responsible for the problems in the first place. Leaving more room for those who are.

Yada yada idiocracy was a documentary.
