  • Not OP, but I did find this from a CBS affiliate which includes a statement they were given by ICE which seems to be the same.

    "ICE and federal law enforcement partners coordinated a lawful arrest with the Albemarle General District Court of an illegally present, violent Honduran alien with multiple arrests for assault and battery as well as an outstanding order of protection against him. Two bystanders unsuccessfully attempted to obstruct enforcement efforts, and the U.S. Attorney's Office intends to prosecute those individuals.

    Regrettably, the Albemarle County Commonwealth's Attorney is posturing for the media and attempting to disgrace the brave officers who made the lawful apprehension in coordination with his office, in an attempt to gain political capital.

    ICE stands behind the actions of the law enforcement officers, who are trained to assess and prosecute apprehensions in a manner that best ensures operational success and public safety. It is shameful that the Commonwealth Attorney, a sworn officer of the court and fellow law enforcement officer, has decided to prioritize politics over public safety - placing a criminal's wellbeing above that of the brave women and men in law-enforcement, whom the Commonwealth Attorney took an oath to support."

    It is very odd though that I didn't find any other coverage from what I would call a reliable source. Maybe it's just too new...?

    Lovely term, that. What it really means is that the children were born in the United States of America and are therefore AMERICAN CITIZENS and have all the rights that all other American citizens have. The simple fact that you don't like that provision of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America is completely irrelevant. This is now at least four American citizens that have been illegally deported without being given any semblance of the due process that the very same Constitutional Amendment requires be given to all RESIDENTS (legal or otherwise) of the united states, including their allegedly undocumented mothers.

    ICE and Trump have clearly and unarguably violated the Constitutional rights of both the parents and children here.

    That's a fascinating concept. An LLM is really just a specific kind of machine learning. Machine learning can be amazing. It can be used to create algorithms that can detect cancer, predict protein functions, or develop new chemical structures. An LLM is just an algorithm generated using machine learning that deceives people into thinking it's intelligent. That seem like a very accurate description to me.

  • How many lawyers need to screw themselves over by using LLMs to write legal briefs before the others realize that doing so just might be a bad idea?

    I mean, come on, people. There is no such thing as actual artificial "intelligence." There are programs that try to mimic intelligence like LLMs but they are not actually intelligent. These models are trained using data from all over the internet with no vetting as to accuracy. When the thing searches for legal cases to cite, it is just as likely to cite a fictional case from some story as it is to cite an actual case.

    Lewdly? I wouldn't call threatening to, hook someone up to a "fucking" polygraph, lewd. I mean, unless they have some really freaky polygraphs at the pentagon made for really hardcore games of Truth of Dare.

  • The DNC version of neutrality is blocking progressives. Sure they'll happily codify a rule that Hogg cannot help young progressives primary incumbents election while pretending it's about actually neutrality and letting the voters choose. But they'll be just as happy to throw that rule out when they want to support some Republican in sheep's clothing to kick out a progressive next time around.

    The vast majority of guns are owned by people who lean far, far right. The use scenario for most of them is a fantastical case where strangers with dark complexions threaten their homes and families and they suddenly turn into Rambo or the Punisher and then shoot all the bad guys.

    Of course this never happens because these very people are honestly cowards who are too scared to go to the grocery store with their weapon. If something really dangerous happens you'd better not be between them and the nearest exit because they will shoot you if you block them while they're running away. Well, unless you're armed. In that case, they'll run from you too.

    "No search warrant was provided," someone says in the video as the invaders crashed through the homes' locked front door. People in the house said their phones and other electronic devices and possessions, including vehicles, were taken.

    Um, a vandalism probe? Really? Smashing into homes with guns drawn, seizing electronic devices and other private property, all over a vandalism probe? That comes nowhere near passing the smell test.
