  • Assuming all democrats in the House vote to impeach, it will take 4 republicans joining them to reach the 50% threshold to succeed. That could honestly be doable. The Senate is another story. It would take 20 republicans to vote with all the democrats and independents to reach the 67% needed to convict. Not impossible, but a profoundly uphill battle.

    Call your reps, protest, make noise. As long as the republicans think that Trump's hordes will keep them in office for supporting him, they won't cave. If we can convince them that the MAGA loons will not be enough to get them reelected and keep their cushy jobs, they'll flip. They are not loyal to Trump, they are afraid of him.

  • That should say 'another trade war.' He did the same shit last time he was in office as anyone who has better memory that a goldfish should remember. Trump only looked unbeatable on the economy because the billionaires who own all the major, and most of the minor, media outlets wanted him to look that way so they could get more undeserved tax cuts.

  • Do it J.B. I want him to do for this nation what he's done for Illinois. I'm not a fan of billionaires in general, but Pritzker has been absolutely amazing for Illinois. I could not ask for a better candidate.

  • Good. Now everyone needs to call, email, or visit with their reps to get this passed - assuming they can force a vote. It will only take 4 republicans crossing the aisle in the house to impeach him yet again. Then we need to hound our Senators to get a conviction. That will be the hardest part because it'll take about 20 republicans to join all the democrats and independents to convict him.

  • So post an article about it and lets talk about it. I don't have time to watch long videos from sources I am unfamiliar with and don't know the quality of. That's why I come to this community where rule number one is, "Post only links to articles." There are other communities for political videos, memes, and discussion posts.

  • I'm not watching a 45 minute video to learn an answer that is painfully obviously probably. Trump is gutting our economy, driving off all our allies, and filling the military leadership ranks with incompetent yes men. Clearly starting a pointless war to consume all of our remaining resources is the next step.

    Also, of course the military is preparing for a war with China. They prepare for war with literally everyone. It's kinda what they do.

  • Not OP, but I did find this from a CBS affiliate which includes a statement they were given by ICE which seems to be the same.

    "ICE and federal law enforcement partners coordinated a lawful arrest with the Albemarle General District Court of an illegally present, violent Honduran alien with multiple arrests for assault and battery as well as an outstanding order of protection against him. Two bystanders unsuccessfully attempted to obstruct enforcement efforts, and the U.S. Attorney's Office intends to prosecute those individuals.

    Regrettably, the Albemarle County Commonwealth's Attorney is posturing for the media and attempting to disgrace the brave officers who made the lawful apprehension in coordination with his office, in an attempt to gain political capital.

    ICE stands behind the actions of the law enforcement officers, who are trained to assess and prosecute apprehensions in a manner that best ensures operational success and public safety. It is shameful that the Commonwealth Attorney, a sworn officer of the court and fellow law enforcement officer, has decided to prioritize politics over public safety - placing a criminal's wellbeing above that of the brave women and men in law-enforcement, whom the Commonwealth Attorney took an oath to support."

    It is very odd though that I didn't find any other coverage from what I would call a reliable source. Maybe it's just too new...?

    Lovely term, that. What it really means is that the children were born in the United States of America and are therefore AMERICAN CITIZENS and have all the rights that all other American citizens have. The simple fact that you don't like that provision of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America is completely irrelevant. This is now at least four American citizens that have been illegally deported without being given any semblance of the due process that the very same Constitutional Amendment requires be given to all RESIDENTS (legal or otherwise) of the united states, including their allegedly undocumented mothers.

    ICE and Trump have clearly and unarguably violated the Constitutional rights of both the parents and children here.

  • LLM basically is trained to be good at fooling us into thinking it is intelligent, and it is very good at it.

    That's a fascinating concept. An LLM is really just a specific kind of machine learning. Machine learning can be amazing. It can be used to create algorithms that can detect cancer, predict protein functions, or develop new chemical structures. An LLM is just an algorithm generated using machine learning that deceives people into thinking it's intelligent. That seem like a very accurate description to me.

  • How many lawyers need to screw themselves over by using LLMs to write legal briefs before the others realize that doing so just might be a bad idea?

    I mean, come on, people. There is no such thing as actual artificial "intelligence." There are programs that try to mimic intelligence like LLMs but they are not actually intelligent. These models are trained using data from all over the internet with no vetting as to accuracy. When the thing searches for legal cases to cite, it is just as likely to cite a fictional case from some story as it is to cite an actual case.
