I think most National supporters would think Uffindell was a mistake though.

Why would you think that given how they vote? It's clear that most National supporters would have no problems with what he did and would do it themselves if they thought they could get away with it.

they don't have to torture you. They can pressure you in all kinds of ways. Even mere threat of locking you up and throwing away the key would get you to unlock your phone.

If you close your eyes the face id won't work. I suppose the police could force you to open your eyes somehow but if they are going to do that they can force you to put your pin in too.

Whenever I hear things like this, I ask ‘What’s the problem they are actually trying to solve?’

Let me list some possible benefits. Presume a premined centralized currency like XRP.

1. You can impose a mining fee and control the exchanges (miners). This would impose a tiny tax on every exchange of money and you can reduce or eliminate other taxes.
2. Easy exchange and transfer of money to and from overseas.
3. Easy peer to peer payments.
4. Easy tracking of transactions to eliminate money laundering.

It's easy enough. Just fork XRP, set up a couple of dozen servers in various places and you are done. The currency is pre mined so you get to control the supply just like fiat.

If you were really smart (and let's face it this government couldn't outthink a dead fly) you'd charge a mining fee and eliminate or reduce the GST.

Kids don't vote, kids don't donate to their political parties.

In most towns in New Zealand there is only one supermarket. I don't see how they would have the right to trespass you. Where are you going to get your food from?

I’m afraid that telling people who are enjoying a less addicted social media experience that they are not using Lemmy enough is not my idea of a good plan, but perhaps you have other ideas.

Again. Shocked and amazed at this attitude. You admit we have a healthcare system in crisis, you know that the government is going to make it worse by cutting the budget, they said they have to lose as much as a quarter of the personnel and you think this will have no effect on the health system and will not effect you at all and you just don't even care enough to have conversation about it.

I wouldn't say such a thing in public myself but I guess you don't feel any kind of embarrassment about doing so.

That was my question. Last time I posted some links people complained. That's why asked this question.

I have been unwell the last couple of weeks, but all the same, there are submissions almost every day.

Most are by me. Also "almost every day" says a lot doesn't it. Some days there are none. Some days there are one. On the days I post there are as many as three or four! What does that say about any social media site?

Currently we are heading towards the Budget. This means the media is and will be full of stories of things the government is considering doing, some confirmed, most are water-testing. For the most part, I don’t find any of these particularly worth discussing.

That seems really odd considering these decisions are going to have a massive impact on your life for the next three years or longer.

You mention vandalising rainbow crossings and climate change, both are items that have had links posted and plenty of discussion under them in the last few days.

I brought them up as examples. There are many similar things happening in the country right now.

Why do you put the "isn't political" qualifier on it? We don't discuss politics either apparently even though there is a community called NZ politics. Hell we don't seem to discuss anything on most days as nobody puts any kind of a link here.

I mean what isn't political anyway? Are people vandalising the rainbow political? How about inflation? How about stories about climate change are they political?

Seems like politics effect every aspect of your life.
