  • In my highschool we had an English teacher who was super into the Beatles. Like "the second half of the year was literally just learning about the Beatles and it made up like 60% of your grade". I used to like listening to them but not so much after that year. To this day I don't know how they got away with that

  • In my school extra credit like that was mostly for the smart people who dicked around a lot or had difficult home lives and missed tests. That way if you needed to shore up some grades you could get it done outside the normal study routine

  • Yeah because we're super fucked if things continue to get worse. Many of us are out there voting and more like our lives depend on it, because our lives literally depend on it. There is no "I could probably coast through the bad" privilege for us

  • This reminds me of the warning signs I saw in Taiwan. Their stick figures go hard. Being thrown out of busses and hit by cars, kicking at monkeys trying to take their food, shattering their everything from falling down stairs. I want the US to adopt more vivid stick figure warnings

  • You'd fit in great with everyone in Seattle. It's expected here that you never talk to people you know ever, except maybe a happy birthday during a Monday lunch break you're trying to justify extending a few minutes

  • 4/10. The immediate extreme response is a solid opener. I do like how you bring the entire fediverse into it which could broaden the appeal. However this is much too short and not nearly unhinged enough for a good copy pasta. Sentence structure is too proper, too. Maybe try some good run ons, add at least two more paragraphs, and include completely irrelevant topics with no attempt to link it to what you're replying to. I'm proud of how well you do and think you can go places with some practice

  • I'm in the US, I've got a solid job, everyone I know says I'm lucky to get raises every year. My raises are still consistently slightly under inflation. Lots of the people I work with don't understand why that means we're not actually getting raises, and nobody wants to rock the boat and risk the small amount we do gain each year. It's wild over here

  • I trained my cat to eat plain chicken by tearing off little pieces and any time he didn't go for it I'd make sure he watched me eat a little. Do that, offer him the other half of the piece I ate, repeat a few times. Now he knows whenever there is a new food if I'm trying to give it to him and I take little bites that he should try it too. It's a lot of fun

  • Wait if it stands for Ronald's Universal Number Kounter, does that mean both the creator and current maintainer are named Ronald? Is it a dread pirate kinda deal where whoever holds the hat takes the name?
