  • Yep, they see which way the wind is blowing, and they'd rather be the one interviewing the fuhrer than be dismantled for unflattering words during his ascent.

I'm sure they genuinely, self-masturbatorily believe they are the peak of journalism, but in abandoning the journalistic cornerstone of informing and serving the public trust, they're anything but.

  • The NYT Strikes me as an organization that would rather attempt to continue to exist under Trump than try to fight the rising fascist tide he's riding.

They've always been that high on themselves, and they've always been pragmatists to the point of standing for nothing except their own gravitas.

  • No, I don't mean the ones that disrupt the system for power, gravitas, or infamy, I mean doing it for the carnage itself, for the pretty flames their disruption makes, breaking the pathetic illusion of civilization.

    The dreamers.

  • It helps that we're still ran by geriatrics that literally have no stake in the world beyond the short term.

And American geriatrics largely despise the generations that came after them. Most not only don't want to plant trees whose shade they will never sit in, like those in a decent society would, they want to burn the trees they sat under out of spite and vanity. This tree is theirs, and all those trees over there! Make your own trees, filthy taker future people!

This is where encouraging greed and selfishness, oh I'm sorry, "rugged individualism and rational-self-interest" as our core cultural values leads, oblivion.

  • I'm voting for Biden to stave off Jerry Lewis Hitler, as I did last cycle and Clinton before.

That said, a lot of Biden enthusiasts need to stop with the "you also need to say you like him and his politics" crap.

No one should feel enthused about always getting wildly varying degrees of bad as the only choice, merely afraid. At this point we're voting whether to keep the water pumps on as Titanic sinks to buy a little time instead of declaring the water at our waist "fake."

Vote to keep the pumps on, sure, but it helps nothing to pretend our rigged capitalist hellscape, that neoliberals and fascists alike declare as "the only way," isn't eating the itself and us and defended by both parties far above the people (we will take every measure to protect our beloved society economy! Here Fed, I'm sure you'll ensure these relief funds trickle down after private shareholders get plenty of relief, of course), while it continues wrecking the planet for a few more short term cash grabs before the owners fly off to their prepared havens, con complete. Nox.

A vote for Biden is a vote for us to not add state sponsored scapegoating, persecution, and ending bodily autonomy to our doom in motion like a cherry. Yes let's do that(edit: meaning vote for Biden if unclear)...

...but don't delude yourself into believing it's any kind of salvation.

  • It's sad that we encourage and reward sociopathic behavior in this country. That turns into people with power, that includes home owners, often cheering for their fellow American's suffering and reveling in it to feel superior. The same people that "succeed" ie are the most successfully selfish, oh I'm sorry, "rationally self-interested," are of course the first to want to pull that ladder up because fuck everyone who isn't them. They have a mindset of "I took what was mine, if you didn't, you must deserve your suffering."

This culture of our cutthroat, big winners and die in the street losers economy has poisoned every aspect of the society it is supposed to be in service to. The United States is basically the sociocultural embodiment of being shamelessly drunk on schadenfreude.

People should feel a sense of guilt for feeling like a bigger winner the more severely and more numerically other people lose, but empathy has to be taught young, and the US treats the very concept of empathy with everything from hostility to outright rage, some even turning it into a derogatory slur, "virtue signaling," treating life as a competition against others, rather than cooperative experience with them.

That's good for keeping us divided so the real winners can keep running the table though, laughing at the middle rung poories beating on bottom rung poories, obliviously doing the job of stoking division and standing against social equity against their own interests... for free!

  • Lol magnitude? Really? These microcapitalists ruined these kids afternoon with their scam, while the ones these scammers emulate poison them with microplastics and Threaten their ONLY habitat, to the scam shareholder's applause and most of society considering them aspirational figures, buying the scam of "sometimes companies make a mess, it isn't their problem or responsibility, and we call this competely valid economic event an externality herp derp 🤡."

Also Most corporate run INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY EXPERIENCE exhibitions are only one step up from this in terms of marketing vs reality. They calculated the formula of acceptable customer mark dissatisfaction from intentionally dishonest marketing hype correctly.

So please, do continue telling me more about the magnitude of these microcapitalist's microscam.

    sits in Wonka meme pose.
