  • "The economy is doing great! Profits have never been higher! Our super yachts have their own pet super yachts now, it's adorable!"

-The economic class raping, pillaging, and destroying society and the planet for private profit out of nothing but greed and ego.

But hey, at least we never tried filthy socialism on our way into oblivion, amirite?

  • Only 28,000 people on Earth worth 100 million or more. Only 28,000 of the softest, most dependent on having others do everything for them fancy lads and lasses in existence. There are a lot of sports stadiums with greater capacity than that. There's 8 billion of us. That's 285 thousand ants for every grasshopper oppressing us.

    Just saying.

And yes, under this global economy and what it incentivizes and punishes, great net worth is about as accurate an indicator as you can get for who the self-serving, sociopathic enemies of the species are. No reasonable, empathetic person would hoard that much in a world of suffering people. It's what makes them who and what they are.

  • I hate biased, ivy league, self-serving economists pretending to be and having the gravitas of scientists when they declare this intentionally corrupt, thieving economy to be the optimal system for distributing goods and services to the society it is supposed to be in service to instead of the other way around as it has become.

Giving the rich people all the money isn't efficient at distributing good and services in such a way as to maximize the well-being of the citizenry(isn't that supposed to be the POINT of any economy?), its only efficient giving the rich people all the money.

  • Nah, senile grandad needs a phone too.

Simple, overpriced tech for simple people who don't prioritize tech or value.

I hate Steve Jobs specifically, his proud lack of charity, his overt need for the credit of talented people despite being nothing more than a marketer, and notably letting his proven child live on welfare for years as he was worth at the time millions. Most pos market capitalist oligarchs join Jobs in rejecting charity (commensurate with their wealth) and community, but even most of them somehow manage to play human when it comes to paying for their own children to eat without complaint, which made Jobs a particularly awful human being, even among our sociopath owners, which takes a lot of talent in being awful.

  • Market Capitalism exists to feed insatiable greed.

These aren't specific bad actors, this is what it means to be a publically traded corporation.

We're going to destroy the planet and civilization will collapse sooner rather than later, but if hypothetically we cared about our species/children/future, capital markets would have to either go, or capital investment would have to be the party receiving a small fraction of the value produced while the labor that generates that value gets most of it, as always should have been the case.

Capital markets, in theory, were supposed a way to seed businesses to grow, now they run the table, threaten legal action against corporations who don't self-cannibalize for short term cash grabs, and at this terminal stage are eating one a other's empires in their desperation to grow/metastasize on a saturated, capitalist conquered finite world.

Having currency isn't the problem, having a do nothing investment class that provides no labor but expects ever Moooooooooaaaaar merely for presenting chips from their last trip to the human exploitation casino is destroying civilization and our sole, shared, COMMUNal habitat is.

Labor makes the world run, builds the goods, provides the services, makes the discoveries, grows our food, etc. Do nothing capital investors are societal leeches claiming all the value generated to keep their livestock desperate, in subsistence, and perpetually separated from the resources to buy their own means of production to form cooperatives and the like, as is the core function of market capitalism.

  • It really is an ideological conflict between people who want humanity to be a civilization, and people that are content with us continuing to be monkeys throwing feces at one another in the dirt.

Civilizations have to aspire be more than they are, and not terms of individuals growing their dragon hoards of greed and glut.

  • Would be more true if they stabbed the hand, because after they suggest budgeting, that employee will be put on a list and be first in line to be terminated due to being incompatible with the work culture of pretending to be shiny and happy living in subsistence.

  • This made me laugh because the HR lady at my company made an email about such "resources" recently.

HR is corporate gestapo, anything you say can and will be used against you, but by all means share your inner demons with them.

  • Honestly, strategy wise, she's fighting an obese, very old, demented, rageful man. People make fun of her, and fuck her politics, but she's one cheeseburger away from being the Republican candidate with the most electoral votes who also has a pulse.

  • Local officials told public broadcaster NHK that the coast guard is unable to rescue the whales because the surrounding ice is too thick

Oh sure, but for a billionaire humanity will comb the oceans to rescue the goo that's left of them from trying to show off.

  • A) That would take tax revenue for people that most voters sadly have almost no empathy for, despite most prisoners being products and victims of their society that were disenfranchised and driven into illegal activity out of desperation.

    B) Voters largely, maliciously love the suffering of prison populations, because it provides the sweet, sweet dopamine drip of schadenfreude. Most people see schadenfreude about prisoners as entirely guilt free, even if they avoid feeling pleasure at the suffering of the poor and homeless.

People by and large fucking suck. They see prisoners as the "other," despite them being desperate, struggling human beings and countrymen that usually needed help but received the opposite before having little to nothing left to lose.

Few other issues put the unvarnished cruelty of mankind on display like discussing how we should treat our prisoners. For every benevolent, enlightened person calling for mercy, compassion, and rehabilitation, there's 10 bloodthirsty people screaming to turn the fucking screws on those BAAAAAAD people.
