  • I haven't tried, but I took a closer look at their wiki yesterday:

    • the Main (official) devices are QEMU, i.e. virtual
    • the list of Community devices is long, but whenever I clicked on something there were significant caveats

IMHO they should focus their efforts on getting at least one actual phone working fully.

I want this project to succeed, but until then I use Sailfish OS, btw.

  • Sailfish OS has it.

Unfortunately the project has some closed source bits which, imho, aren't an issue when you look closer (some parts of the UI). Maybe I'm naive but I trust this EU company.

I use it as my daily driver. It certainly is frugal compared to recent Android versions, but fully functional.

It's an actual Linux OS (as opposed to any Android version). Things work the same way they do on my laptop & server.

  • But I heard they also demand access to ALL social media accounts, which aren't tied to a device.

  • I was wondering the same actually:

Wouldn't hard shutting down the internet shut down mobile communications as well. Of course a soft shutdown would allow for filtering that out. I wonder which one Iran chose.

  • our discussion

Not our. It's a discussion you are trying to have with me about something I labeled as a layman's guess.

  • BTW, the Trump family changed their name before they even came to America, unfortunately - it was such a good story. I still like to call him that from time to time, but also Mango Mussolini, Orange Baby or just mad megalomaniac.

And without him and his ilk we wouldn't even have a "discourse that we should respect people’s choice as to how they define themselves" because that would just be the norm, no need to "discourse" about it.

  • At the very least you should proactively point out that you're recommending closed source, proprietary and paid software on a FOSS community, in the future.

Especially with password managers the SAAS closed source part is extremely relevant. I'd never entrust mine to that, let alone recommend it to others. Linux version with integrated ssh agent be damned.

  • Sooo.... what is happening in Gaza/Westbank meanwhile?

  • It's a nice way of showing your folks what you really think of that madman, while at the same time making the idiot feel good about himself. I've seen European politicians do something similar in the past.

  • Lol, this is phrased like you'd talk to an angry madman to get him to calm down. Or a child. I'm sure the tone is completely lost on Trump.

Not that I like the message or the person who sent it, but this is very clearly designed to stroke his 3 braincells while signaling to your folks what you really think of him.

  • I assume its a cookie setting, as I see the same behavior when I turn off tracking protection and ad blockers.

It goes way deeper than that. Fingerprinting is a whole thing. Your IP, combined with some characteristics about your browser, operating system and hardware... pretty unique.

Interesting to see what YT "thinks" about you.

    I see 1995 twice there.

  • No matter how frugal the surface, underneath it's all still there. Also something to remember when using Google search. the fact that it's all white and clean does not mean it's minimal.

  • “They threatened me with a minimum fine of $5,000 or five years in prison if I refused to provide the password to my phone.”

Jesus Christ. Reminds me of Eastern Europe in the early 90s.

  • That was just exasperation (which I can understand), but their subsequent comment unfortunately shows much more of what they're about.

  • Love that facts get downvoted

You just claim what you said is fact, then get all prissy about it.

I'm sure that will get you fewer downvotes?

You want to have a good faith discussion about this? It's not a simple equation. All in all it's usually better to NOT cut down old forests. You have to consider the whole ecosystem.

Also, I'm sure Trump had our carbon emissions in mind when he rescinded those protections, hm?

  • I’m not too keen on reading about governor XYZ of state UVW bashing republicans and The Congress.

You should be keen on reading about anybody who dares to speak up against the current US administration from the inside, instead of belittling such actions. Ultimately it does concern you, too.

  • Well I for one find this claim entirely credible (unfortunately).

Also, more JD Vance memes! Yay Streisand effect!

  • You know soemtimes I catch myself typing furiously and after the 3rd sentence I realize that I really don't give a flying fuck about the whole subject.

Just eat a different ice cream instead of "petitioning" Cornetto.
