  • Flatpak has annoyances like sometimes not following your icon theme, or just generally looking out of place because not picking up system defaults.

It works but I avoid it. On Arch Linux, there is a huge AUR repository where users have made native packages, and thats usually much better than Flatpak. But on Ubuntu, Flatpak is the only option sometimes.

  • I work in IT so appearently i can just type override to get into any computer system. Cool..

  • Why do people want to ask complete strangers instead of making their own decision?

That must mean that they value the opinion of total strangers more then their own. Isnt that a mindfuck.

  • He can reverse it after the next round of golf. This is Trump.

  • Ok. Better.

  • Mullvad of course. Proton is American right?

  • No, thats a conspiracy theory. There are no differences between anyone existing in the universe, we are all exactly the same.

  • “Now this—this is the greatest sandwich ever created. We’re talking historic. It’s got the best balloney—the best, not that fake deli junk—they say it’s 100% truth meat, just like me. The Russian dressing? It’s strong, it’s bold, it respects strength. Putin himself said, ‘Donald, this dressing is beautiful.’ And the pickle—tiny, yes, but it gets the job done. Tremendous flavor, very efficient. Some people are even saying it’s a perfect sandwich—maybe even the most masculine sandwich of all time. Crooked media won’t admit it, but they’re eating it too, behind closed doors. Everybody wants a bite of the Trump Sandwich. It wins. It just wins.”

  • Hitler got elected because people wanted change. And he was appearently very popular at first, with a very unique, strong and beautiful voice and nice blue eyes that the ladies went for. Tons of charisma.

Of course almost all mentions of Hitler shows him as a raving lunatic, because thats how we want people to think about him. But its dangerous, because it doesnt show how someone like that actually ended up in power and was popular and listened to by the entire country. How he did that is what we need to pay attention to. He probably had a simular mix of charisma, confidence and even charm that the orange man has.

You guys have to be careful to not let Trumpster get too far. They never teach at school how to go against leaders, because they want obedient workers. But you have to learn that and realize how some peoples brains are tricked into supporting someone like this.

  • You know, those oneliners may sound cool when you are a teenager, but they are signs of a mind who thinks in absolutes, because there is no wisdom yet.

It will come through life and getting older. :)

  • How did you try being nice? You have a war on everything... Drugs, freedom, privacy.. Im honestly not sure how you see yourself as being nice...

High road? Im also not sure how you took the high road. Im genuinely interested, maybe my perspective here is completely wrong.

  • Amazing guy. I always love those people who are honest when there is nothing to gain but self respect.

Most people dont say anything because they are afraid, and they know its not smart for their careers. But thats exactly why I like those people who are honest so much. They get a lot of shit for it and they do it anyway. Thats really cool i think. Thats being actual cool.

  • Yep piefed seems cool, and it should develop faster than Lemmy since its easier language to be quick in too.

Will check it out, just for fun. I prefer apps on my phone but of course everyone is different. Sometimes the web version is so good that the app is just a wrapper around a web browser anyway.

  • The only problem is that you guys call everyone a transphone or homophobe or liberal or whatever, all the time. Its actually a bit funny because you dont see the forest for the trees. Everyone has to think exactly the same or they are THE ENEMY and need to be keyboard warriored into compliance with right-think :)

With age comes a bit more wisdom (ok maybe not for Trump). If you have calm discussions and listen, you will absolutely 100% see that most people are actually quite alright. Even if they dont like trans people, they will eventuelly get there, by having discussions and chats and seeing them in the real world.

I remember how this worked in Sweden where I live. At first, everyone was super racist. We had like 3 black people in school and they were of course bullied and thought of as very strange. This was in 1985 or something.

Now, decades later, its seen as strange if you dont have black people at a job, or see them everywhere. Because its normal.

The same thing will happen with trans people but you dont have to sit and hate people online to get there. It will happen as more trans people come out and join everyone else at work and in the cities, just normally.

I have seen it. So just relax guys. Dont hate.

  • Absolutely, lets do it.

America wants to be on their own. Freedom to get fucked up.

  • I was talking about reddit alternatives with quality mobile apps, not fediverse apps in general.

In that category i didnt know any besides Lemmy, but ok, piefed is worth checking out. But which mobile app has the quality of Sync?

And yes, im aware that some part of the donations may go to the Lemmy.ml instance but I also believe that developers need to have a decent salary. So its not strange that 1000 dollars per month is not nearly enough to live on. But people just ignore that and focus on not supporting lemmy.ml because they dont like the political views of the developers.

But yeah I will check out piefed. Its good with more alternatives, specially written in easy languages like python, since rust is very difficult to contribute to. However, large python codebases tend to be very buggy due to lack of types, but maybe they use the optional type system. Its also slow, but doesnt matter so much when most of the cpu usage is the database.

  • Yes heretic was pretty good, recommended.

  • Well, we will see. It would be stupid if Lemmy died because the users couldnt accept the opinions of two little devs, but sure, it may happen.

Then a lot of users will go back to big tech, and the ad business will profit once again. Because we couldnt accept that two devs on planet earth had opinions we didnt like.

    Two people.
