Damn, was planning on getting a Skyline 2.
Guess I'll go for the Fairphone 6 via Murena instead.
I recommend reading through this comment chain before buying from Murena..
Maybe i did not read everything well enough, but did GrapheneOS provide anything other than just 'they do this' and 'they are not secure'? Are there more sources to prove GrapheneOS is not talking nonsense? Not that i'm defending e/os or anything, i'm just really curious to read some proper examples of their (for what i'm now calling) claims.
I've read only but good things about e/os... until this. Saying this while my Fairphone 6 with Murena will be delivered in about 12 hours...
no proof was provided that day
Well, seeing as my first pick was the Skyline 2, something that runs a very mainline tracker filled android. Murena's OS is leaps ahead of it for security.
Edit: as far as the choice between the Skyline 2 and the Fairphone 6, both have similar capabilities, and each has a design that is nice for different reasons.
The Skyline 2 doesn't have as much long term support but is noticeably cheaper.
Far as Murena itself. As an American if I want a Fairphone 6 my choices are spend close to $900 buying an imported one from ebay where I don't get a warranty and start with a close to vanilla android. Or, I buy from Murena and get a phone with a more secure OS and very importantly, the best smart phone warranty on the US market for $900 + shipping. There isn't really a contest.
Welp, you can get the Trump phone instead. Enjoy.
A Samsung Galaxy S3 running last official firmware?

Yes daddy, please fuck me over harder and spy on me watching porn, ooohh yea /s 🤮
it will be filled with so much russian bloatware, and russian apps.
Aww. My $150 Nokia G20 with a $3 Aliexpress case has served me well for several years. I'd have no qualms buying a successor.
HMD, Human Mobile Devices. Afaik a lot of them are former Nokia. Or it's a light rebrand and not a new corp. Dk. Some connection though
I'm sure the obvious answer is tariffs, but the US phone market has been rough for anyone who isn't Apple or Samsung due to the outsized role carriers play in phone selection in that market. Google has made some inroads by being Google, but HMD is not Google.
I worked at Apple when iPhone became available at Verizon (huge US telecom).
Apple was set up for this huge launch and expected crowds of people. The store was way overstaffed that day and pretty uneventful.
One guy came up and asked us where the Verizon store was 😂 when someone told them we could do all the account stuff in the Apple Store I think he still chose to go to Verizon.
Anyway, that’s just an example to highlight your point.
