Took a photo of da moon.
😍
Hey bottom_racer, I recommend a routine of accutane, warm compresses and reducing carbs in your diet. Xoxo
It looks like a melon from that angle. A melon that's gone off
been a good day so far
back is greatly improved and I'm sleeping better
went out with froze brain, happened to buy a book and instead of just sitting there at bus stop looking like this as I often do, I was able to read a book ::: spoiler spoiler
:::also planted another punnet of lettuces seedlings, some parsley, coriander and chives when I got home
coriander
Ooh bold.
Tempted to try as well soon, it'll bolt but whatevs.
Found this to be a decent guide.
https://localfoodconnect.org.au/community-gardening/planting-guide/
this is my second crop of coriander this season, I already ate up the first :)
My neighbour is the best. Dropped in to say hi and got fed roast, wine and now cheese… 🥰
I have no idea how to be that type of person, but it sounds like a nice type of person to be.
I’m tired. Woke up a few times to clean during the night.
Tired too.
Up at 5:30am yesterday to go to work.
Home at midnight because concert, didn't get to sleep until nearly 1.
Up again at 5:30am this morning.
I think the real reason though is that I'm just getting too old for this shit and don't spring back like I used to 😆
I did some tech support at an aged care facility today as a bit of a side hustle. It would be an alright bit of extra money if I can make it a regular thing.
I only worked with one person though, trying to get the IMAP configuration working for her ensuing on her phone. Unfortunately I didn't get it set up during the session so I'll need to look into it more
Come on Friday, come on!!!
Made it down the Bellarine to fix some watering problems. Chillos have had a week off water but they're not looking too bad:
This is sort of the 'don't have to worry too much' stage thankfully.
Two schools of thought for spacing. Some say they like to 'hold hands' so plant them close, others say the opposite. This year they're holding hands.
I always plant two chilies in the same place. Seems to work out.
IIRC a lack of water over a short period can promote stronger root growth in chillies so the week off may have benefited you against windy weather. Those are looking gorgeous!
Nice irrigation system btw! I need to build/install mine this weekend, but with Sunday being 30° and Monday being 40° it's going to end up into late next week isn't it?
I'm on the space side of the debate btw, so please let me know if this approach works better for you this season. Reason for my stance is that it gives them more room to grow and establish a root system that is more sturdily overwintered.
Also this season I found out that if you have 2+ seeds germinate in one jiffy pellet and you just yank the younger sprouting one with force ignoring any root care and place it in a second jiffy pellet that they don't care about their roots that early and, go on to thrive with no delay / lag in growth. Makes me wish I'd had never culled all but one multiple germinations in one cell.
I need to build/install mine this weekend
Ooh nice. I definitely found chillies enjoy routine water.
I'm usually on the space side of the debate too so we'll see what happens heh.
Today I am especially sleepy and especially cranky.
Have a networking lunch today. Need to turn my grumpy, don't talk to me energy to personable and approachable. Not sure it's gonna happen.
Slap that happy mask on, you got this!! 💜💜
Got closer today
You could try the universal lure - sardines!
👀👀👀
Is that feral?
Yeah they're strays but very young.
I see you.
I need to organise a water dispenser of some sort. Actually probably a dry food one as well while I'm at it.
Ha. I beat my alarm by 5 minutes but it wasn't good enough. 7 missed calls (do not disturb and sleep mode do a really good job), and apparently my couch has already been delivered. Hope nobody steals it. Multiple small boxes rather than a single large or heavy one
E: I went to cancel my alarms I thought I'd set, but apparently I went to sleep without even setting any alarms. That could've been dangerous...
E2: the table is coming in 12 minutes and I don't believe can be left. I won't be there for another half hour yet. Oof.
E3: he was able to leave the table. Had to sign a thing online, but all good. I'm leaving now, gonna bring a museli bar, banana, and some cookies in my bag. This feels like going to primary school! Gotta bring a piece of fruit or you get in trouble :(
(Does anyone remember that, or was that just a my school thing/new thing?)
I don't envy you as I remember what that's like and quickly learning that if the window for large items says 6am-9am that you'll always be the first (maybe only) delivery of the day for them so be at the new place for 5:30am ready for the inevitably early 5:45am delivery.
Also with the couch, don't they normally put all that together for you when they deliver and have you missed out on that service (I've never had to put together a couch myself)?
I yawned and pulled a muscle in my neck. oowwie
It took almost 2 hours to build the couch. Fuckin IKEA man. Dryer man's said he'd be here by 2:15, but I believe those of you also in Victoria, the ACT or NSW may notice it is currently not that. I can't go until he delivers, and I have a rowdy parcel man to satisfy
All things considered, building a couch in two hours is pretty good.
Maybe
It sucks, but! it's a valuable life lesson and learning experience so try and take it in your stride! I'll send you an Uber Eats voucher if you DM you email addy so you can get some free food as a reward.
The whole moving process truly sucks (I've moved 7 times in the past decade alone and started that decade with owning nothing in *this beautiful country).
Aw thanks indi, that's very kind! Honestly though I was so exhausted I ended up just going straight to bed for a few hours after getting back. Had some pastizzis and bulla ice cream. Life's good
I love assembling furniture. It’s a nice little problem solving exercise and satisfying when done.
Mate next time I'm just gonna drop it around to yours and let you deal with it 😅
A big part of IKEA's business model is people undervaluing their own time. Their furniture is cheap, but that's because there's no cost for the labour to putit together.
I get for some people they have no choice and need to go with what's most accessible, but that's why I try avoid IKEA
Lunch is over, so now I feel like I’m allowed to get properly excited about dinner – Korean food, heck yes!! I’m amused by myself in that I’m watching KDramas, eating Tteok-bokki and drinking soju, but going to Japan at the end of the year…
Speaking of travel, I hope CEO has an easy and safe flight over to NZ today!
TMI wound warning... a bit of pus with black bits of debris came out of my finger. Hopefully that means it has managed to expel any remaining bits and there is nothing else in there and my finger can heal properly now.
Get some maggots in there to eat the dead flesh lol
I don't think there is any dead flesh, the problem is way too much living flesh, all of it involved in a fight for ownershiop over my finger. The white blood cells have home ground advantage, but the interloper bacteria have lots of sneaky tactics to use, and it's only the pitch invasion by the antibiotic team that's keeping the advantage for the home team.
Magnoplasm is good for pulling all of that out and letting the fresh white blood cells get in there. It’s meant for splinters and whitlows but I often use it for infected cuts with or without antibiotic treatment
Trying to set up some .gov shit and my phone is too old for the new app.
Will have to get a new one. That's some bullshit right there.
I miss homing pigeons and smoke signals :(
And quill pens ...
I feel your rage. Still haven't set up the new phone I bought due to the 3g/4g thing because I'm sour about the whole thing (and still haven't received the case I ordered on ebay)
Sending in Medicare claims via carrier pigeons, getting Centrelink payments via cheque on horse and cart - the good old days
Thank you Baku for posting the thread today 😘
♥️
Thanks goonsy
I am knackered and almost dozed off while waiting for midnight to hit. I probably would've asked someone else to do the DT, but the washing machine finished at 11:49 and I needed to transfer the stuff to the dryer for today, so it wouldn't have made much different. Gotta be up at 8 sharp. I think in 24 hours I can go commence a long sleep with a bonus sleep in
I don't want to be too strict about the timing of the new daily, it's just that when people started getting earlier and earlier, we ended up having multiple and it was hard to choose which one to delete and which to keep.
I'd like to hear some feedback about what rule we should implement, that way we can avoid making people stay up unnecessarily.
I'm open to whatever is preferred by the community.
I really don't care. Even a few hours off, whatever. I don't think our little community needs rules about these things. Someone gets up at 5am and there's no thread, just make one. No worries, easy peasy.
I prefer a thread to be late than to be hours early.
No one should have to stay up, just do the thread if it's convenient at that time.
I'd also prefer late to early, but it doesn't matter too much
Probably the most important thing is that it is created by someone on an Auzzie Zone account, there is often a bit of lag between different instances that means posts don't show up straight away, leading to more likelihood of duplicates.
I prefer late than early. A couple of mins early, although not something I'd want to do myself, is fine if that better suits whoever's posting. But in general I'd prefer half an hour late to early. And yeah, I think hours early are ridiculous
As I said, it's all good. I would've only netted 10 extra minutes of sleep because I was waiting for the washing machine to finish. And my weirdness about only posting at or after 12 is a me thing, nothing to do with you
You're doing fine mate
Won't be open right now but Galaxy Bookshop is a must if you are an SF type, and there is usually something free at the State Library. Dixon St for dinner!
Totally second Galaxy bookshop! Amazing place. Has good anime too.
Sounds like a very cool day indeed. 🙂
rough nights sleep and stomachs not SUPER impressed so can only have a small coffee. Bummer.
Happy holidays to those of you who are heading away, or already away!
And happy international mountain day to everyone else!
QuiZ for your Wednesday morning- how well do you know US/UK spelling?
14/14
Edit: I do have to say that I’ve always known tidbits as tidbits and not titbits… Interesting.
13/14
Helps growing up in a country where a mix of both spellings are used.
13/14 Damn difficult to work out from the questions which of the two countries to answer for - had to really concentrate. Or maybe I need a holiday to get my brain on straight.
I tripped up on that one, too, lol
ok, I’m leaving
11/14 - that was fun! It was cool to see what my instinct told me vs when I was a bit overwhelmed.
"You got... 13/14 Ooh, that rankles."
I got 11/14. I messed a few up though. Couldn't remember if...
13/14 - finally, a topic I’m good at!
Made it to the new house. I should do some cleaning and such, but too tired. I'm probably gonna take a nap on the floor ngl
I now have until Friday off due to my finger. I'm now not sure if it's getting better or not. If it's still the same on Friday I get to go back for an ultrasound. Hopefully it gets better by then, I want my weekend penalties.
I thought I should get my ibuprofen tabs and paracetamol tabs to line up but nope, ibuprofen is in rows of 6 and the paracetamol is in rows of 5
it's hot dogs and buns all over again
Anyone else collect your cat's whiskers and store them in a container? I have a little tin I keep Mickey's whiskers in. I almost considered keeping his claw sheds, but that's a bit too far; can't turn those into a weird brush 😅
I have been known to.
Not regularly, but I do have a few from prior cats, and a baby tooth from one.
That's kind of why I'm doing it. I never want to lose this tin tbh
Look at those fine whiskers, ripe for shedding and harvesting
oh no
I have never watched a trailer that made me want to see a film more lol
Are the first two worth watching?
100%, they're bangers. The first is better than the second imo
Imo yes! They're just good ol 2000s horror and are really enjoyable! Cillian Murphy slays, and the plot is really intriguing!
I hope you get around to watching 28 Days and 28 Weeks, they're just so good!
Edit: to further my point, my partner hates horror, but really liked both Days and Weeks, and we're both a bit hyped for Years now 😂
I want to see that film so badly already that I won't even watch the trailer as I'd like to go in knowing nothing
That's so fair! But I will say the trailer doesn't give anything away, it's very well edited!
But you're invited to the watch party when it releases! 😂
yess, i am totes looking forward to this
Yasssss!!!!! So excited! I haven't been excited for a film in over 10 years 😂
Oh awesome thanks. Looks fantastic . Alex Garland writes some great screenplays.
had to stop myself from singing during the team meeting "on the 1st day of christmas my true love gave to me, A Post Incident Review due to a supposed low risk-er during the change freezeeeeeeeeeee"
Dude I filled out 5 PIR's last week lol
LOVE a good PIR this time of year. Even my lead is like "WTF am I supposed to do! My job IS changing things, I cant do shit during a change freeze!"
I finally got the case delivered for my new phone!! Just a day before I was going to report it undelivered. Phone finally out of box and charging. I sure as fuck don't feel like setting it up tonight though. Never have i felt so meh about a new phone. Next two days gonna be full on as well. Probably leave it to Saturday.
Just feeling a bit overwhelmed with the next two days and the weekend, and work commitments next week...
I've decided next weekend is going to be sacrosanct - no socialising, no big chores, no big decisions- just (a) sorting out what to make for Xmas and making it, and (b) packing for my trip to NSW between xmas and 4/1. Still need to work 23 and 24 but I'll keep them strictly low-key.
January better be fucking easier!!!!
brain froze, need a walk
Yay I finally got some movement on the auspost parcels! I lodged an enquiry for the 3 that were in transit in my suburb over a week ago, even though they wanted me to wait until 10 business days. I ordinarily would wait, but I decided to lodge it anyway cause I figured it would be an easy fix and I know they've done it before. Got a notification they're all ready to collect
The one from the NBN say around at sunshine for a few days then last night for 3 separate scans each about an hour apart in Dandenong South (again), and is now "in transit to next facility". I really should've just let them try to deliver it, fail, then take it to the post office. Trying to redirect it has easily added about a week at this point, considering it was sent express post
All the furniture is pretty much here now. Just waiting on the dryer, which is due within 2 hours. Now to figure out how the actual fuck a flat pack couch works
E: I just got a call from the post office. They're upset that my parcels have been there for over a week and I haven't picked them up. Apparently they have no room and want me to come get them today or they'll return them back to Kmart. I mean fair enough I guess, but jeez, you guys are the ones that didn't scan it in properly lol, I don't think it's really fair to blame me for it
Bored, so got on the Reddit. Seems they're censoring the manifesto of Luigi Mangione (the dude that killed that dropkick in the states)
First thing I saw after opening Reddit lol
Perhaps a result of a police request? Are reddit still doing their transparency reports?
Possibly. Reddit almost always takes at least 24 hours to act on reports in my experience, even illegal, vile, disgusting things. So it's weird to see them censor this so quickly. I'd guess either police request or somebody doesn't like it and report-botted it until some robot removed ir

A cure for the nasty chicken burger I had for lunch please
🦠
I had a pork bao bun meal kit for dinner and it was pretty darn delicious. As a bonus I get to look forward to the other half tomorrow night.
Now I have about half an hour to decide if I want something for dessert before I have to cut myself off from any more eating.
just listening to YT playlists , I love this song fatboy slim, praise you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruAi4VBoBSM
wow, Africa has 1 billion views https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTQbiNvZqaY . It's a lovely song. 🙂
I may have made too good a time getting to the place toil… 😬
Going through my error logs and seeing someone repeatedly trying to inject on a server that doesn't even have SQL or PHP installed will never not be funny to me
Same thing seeing iis exploit packets thrown at an Apache server. I'm sure they just spam ip ranges, because even the dumbest script kiddy is smarter than that.
Good night. 💖
Night goonhoon
Sleep well
Night Seagoon, night all. 😴
trying on some new shorts in the change room, walk in close the blind pull my pants down and just stare at myself in the mirror for like a good 5 seconds thinking "something isnt right....." takes me that long to realize its cause I'm just standing there with my dick out cause I've stupidly removed my briefs as well! I came back to my office and tried to use apple pay to access the lifts rather than my lanyard, another 5-10 second delay as I grapple with "why did this not work the way I expected".
Jesus, dont let me touch anything important today my brain is cooked.
Go home. Go bed. Reboot.
I spent a few minutes trying to pay for shoes with my Library card once. Happens to the best of us.
Last week I grabbed my work swipe card as i walked up to the door of my house, and started moving it toward an imaginary card reader where one would normally be on a work door.
I do not have electronic locks at home.
Also, I haven't needed to use a physical pass to open the doors at work for over a year, when they moved to a new system.
Brains are stupid.
Those days are the days you tell your team "I'm going to accidentally cause more harm than good today, it's best I clock off early. See you tomorrow".
I know I'm not the only one who read this as "cock off".
have definitely tried to pay for good in Kmart - with my myki.
When I was in NSW I was holding my myki to the opal reader trying to figure out why it wasn't working
😂
My favourite is trying to swipe my work pass to open my locker.
