Can someone list the youtube alternatives and maybe even link them if youre feeling super generous?
Ive been using newpipe but it crashes constantly. Im on android with no access to a computer.
Did I miss something? What's wrong with revanced? It's what I use and I like it...
Is there a way to have video links in lemmy open in revanced instead of YT on my phone?
On android; Settings > apps and notifications > default apps > on the bottom is "opening links"
From there check the settings for YouTube and YouTube revanced and change as needed...
I don't know if that helps but that's what I would try.
Follow the other comment or, open the 'App Info' of default YT app (by holding dorn on the app icon). Goto 'open by default'. In 'Open supported links' choose 'Dont allow app to open links'. For Revanced follow above and set it to 'Allow app topen supported links'. The supported links should already be availablefior revanced.
Or you can set 'Ask everytime' for both and chose when opening an URL.
Disable the original youtube app.
Untrackme is one way to set that up. There is another, but I forget it's name.

That's Vanced. ReVanced is a new thing where you take the official YouTube APK(or some other apps)and patch it yourself. They have an app that does the hard work for you. You just have to find an APK for the right version of YouTube via APK Mirror or similar.
I don't think so? Vanced was but I'm using ReVanced just fine. Unless it's recent-ish news I missed out on?

Invidious.us and piped are browser based options. Use your browser of choice to create a web app on mobile.
Great for android mobile imho.
Especially since you can log in with your piped information. Stellar!

I see a lot of people mentioning Libretube, the only deal breaker is I can't login but love that it's open source and minimal than ReVanced. is there a way to login to my g account on Libretube?
It's a piped frontend, so only piped accounts. (Piped is a frontend for YouTube)
You can get a ReVanced APK, as condemnable as it seems, from... I think there was a RevancedAPKs reddit community.... yeah ew.
I personally use Libretube.
it's better to patch it yourself not a rocket science though.

SkyTube Extra can unless you are de-googled.
I always have issues playing videos on both newpipe and libretube dont know why. Pipepipe works well for me, it's a fork of newpipe.
