Thanks for the suggestion about Pi-hole! I actually have NextDNS set up just in case! not seeing any ads so far. I find NextDNS more convenient as it works outside my home network as well. But I'm looking to get a Raspberry Pi to set up Pi-hole in my local network!!

Solid thinking! I have the same philosophy but I'm in a place where I need bread. Even if the company didn't provide the hardware, I still took the job. But I do care about privacy so much, I took all the steps necessary to make sure I'm not letting them inside my computer. Luckily they don't have us use any of their softwares, and the only things I have to use is a corporate email inside chrome. And I'm running all of this on a spare old laptop, not my main personal computer.

this is my main reason why I don't want to switch to a new flagship from the Google pixel 4a. It's not supported by google anymore, but it still runs smoothly with GrapheneOS (custom ROM), and I swapped the battery for a new one from iFixit and it just works! Maybe you can consider a Google Pixel 8a, at least it's not as huge as other flagships
