- Tbf, when they asked WHY they should interview basically random people, the GOP members of the committee refused to share information with the rest of the committee.

  They aren't. They are responding to unsubstantiated accusations being made against them. This has nothing to do with "staying in their lane," it has to do with (most likely) republicans just lying to keep their shame of an impeachment query alive.
