Have a great day 👍
something entirely out of my hands has gone through so i can now continue with my life and go easy on that productive procrastination
I'm going to the CBD later to grab some shoes and some t-shirts.
I haven't left my outer suburb in a couple of weeks. It's always a shock to the system being around so many people all at once.
I do so miss it though. Once I'm re-established I'm moving closer to the city. Maybe st.kilda again.
Same, don’t go to the city often and it’s always so busy. I used to work in the city about 15years ago and don’t remember it being as busy, maybe it’s because there’s lots more residential around CBD and inner suburbs. My ideal living location would be close to city but also quiet area with some garden and tress around, which of course is contrary to inner city density and I’m not rich enough for that kind of extravagance.
There's some lovely leafy pockets in East Melbourne and Carlton. Both areas are stupid expensive, however.
The city scares me. I've been there at 3am on a Saturday morning far too many times for my own good
Go to Pasta Khan Dolan Uyghur for lunch! (Attempt 2)
I spoke to a HR person in the IT industry earlier today.
She said for a role, they usually get 40 resumes. Now they're getting 300.
Fucking hell.
Work goals kicked today. Got some kudos from higher ups that I never deal with.
Feel good, but also now they've put a face to my name and I cannot remain hidden behind and email signature.
Also hate setting the bar high
Depression lapse sucks. Today I am going to be reading and rereading the chapter on tolerance of ambiguity and other cognitive ways of thinking.
This one is a hard nut to crack, my thinking is too fast, I can't see where the wrong thinking starts. I need to peel back the layers until I can get to the problem.
I know meditation and somatic stuff isn't for everyone but when I hit a wall in the CBT thing of 'see, intercept and change the thought' I got (and get) a lot out of somatic stuff. Breathing, feeling where it hurts, not questioning just feeling through it. I can chuck you a couple of references if you want. I have some deep grief stuff that I will always carry as a pattern and in some ways that's ok with me. For me those things are to be felt and held then placed back in their place. I kinda go back and forth between the two (CBT/somatic).
100% have my sympathy about fast moving mind. That's the problem with feelings - they happen down there in your nervous system and it's so fucking fast.
I 🖤 my locals. Swapped many books, borrowed a ladder, lent a pruning saw. Acquired mulberries, gifted plums.
Can’t afford to buy here. Arse.
So I have possibly two opportunities here for my other 3 days...
I don't need permanent employment right now - ideally just need to make bank before July and then take it easier for a year while I finish my degree - plus I love being able to go somewhere different each time, and the flexibility is REALLY tempting, like massively so, on a practical and personal level... I don't actually want to go back to full time hours really.
I would've gone for #1 straightaway if not for #2 cropping up first.
But having heard #2 out, it does seem like a better medium to long term option and could make me feel more fulfilled and connected IF I manage my time and energy right. I'm torn!
I call braindead work work that leaves my mind free to think what I ever want.
I definitely appreciate that breathing space especially as the work is not desk based (but also not physically taxing). I wouldn't do it forever but it is a nice option in between, wish I'd found out about it earlier this year tbh.
I’m having a hard time braining flexible and regularly interstate at the same time. That needs forward planning surely?
It's flexible in that there's no commitment to ongoing work on either side. I could go for 3 days one week and then not the next, if that makes sense. Rather than having to commit to 3 days every week for months
How much time do you have to think about your options?
Ultimately It'll come down to your wellbeing and health vs needing fancial stability.
Option 1 could be great if it continued on for awhile and also the flexibility it offers.
Option 2 would give you stability, possible advancement and longer term work at the cost of a higher emotional load and loss of flexibility. Being close to home also would be a plus in my book.
I have a couple of weeks to decide on option 2. If I go with option 1, I will need to shift my current working days to accommodate, but that may take a few extra weeks, so no immediate cash sadly.

The effects of other people can really linger in our minds. If you no longer want contact, a simple reply of something like ‘I don’t want to revisit our past, or have any further contact. Please don’t contact me again’ and then block number. Message is useful because it’s closure for you and sets a clear boundary, but if you think it’s better for your mental health to not reply at all, just block number and say good bye to that part of your life.
so many hugs
and time for new reddit accounts
got through 1 & 1/2 episodes of the new Invincible last night. Man that show is effective at making you feel things.
Have highly aggravated my hands, first day of holiday shall be neither murdering garden nor sewing sofa as planned. Guess I need to find something on the box to vege out at.
hugs, sore hands is not fair
Thanks, my own stupid fault this time.
Beer, whiskey, binge watching shit, ugg Boots, stretched out on the couch.
LET THE LONG WEEKEND COMMENCE!!
Not cold enough for uggs at mine despite the windows open and no carpeting anywhere, but enjoying track pants and fuzzy blanket on the couch after all these weeks in shorts.
I've got shorts and ugga on. Either that or it's trackies and bare feet
I opted for the UGGs
Wow. Feel like I packed three weeks into those four work days. Stoped off for a meal on the way home. Laying low this weekend so can shout myself a meal and a drink. 🥂🥂
🍺CHEEEERS🍺
I'm saving mine for tomorrow night but cheers anyway ☕
I'm tuckered out so if it's off to bed, watch some tv, listen to some hobbit.
good night 😘
I was just about to go down to the post office to see if my package was chilling there when I heard a thud and my package is just in front of my door. No postman in sight, like a little package fairy.
It seems that the second digit of my address had been scratched off (but nothing else on it), so now I'm even more confused. It looks almost intentional. But if it wasn't delivered because the number was scratched, that's even more confusing. Why did the tracking say it was delivered? Why was the neighbours package delivered to me? Was this the package god just testing my faith? Will we ever know all the answers?
Without ranting on it too much, I think I'm just going to chalk it up to both human error, and trying to game the system. It was initially meant to be delivered by the PDC boys, I believe from memory they get paid per delivery like uber eats people, and they have massive delivery zones, so I don't blame them for just marking it delivered and then taking it to the LPO. But I still think they got confused and meant to take my neighbours to the PO rather than give it to me, but it is what it is I guess.
Well, at least you have the package, which is good news. Mine is still hanging out in Sunshine, so my hopes of a pre-Easter delivery will not be happening.
Yeah. I find that sunshine is good, until it's not so good. They're usually efficient, but if they don't get it done within a day, it ends up sitting there for a week
check wind speed
nvm i'm staying in. maybe a nap and then steak with instant mash and green peas
My revanced broke again so I had to repatch it and I'm loving how easy it is to patch now. When I first hopped on revanced after the og Vanced died, i had to go digging through random APK websites to find the right YouTube APK, then painstakingly choose the patches I wanted, then it took around 20-30 minutes to patch it, couldn't do other things while I was waiting or it'd abort. Couldn't read notifications or it'd abort. Then I had to force stop and disable OG YouTube, then when things broke I had to do it all over again
Now it's so much easier, I just push a button and it takes me where I need to be to download the recommended apk version, the patches all come pre selected and only take 2 mins at most to patch, I disabled the original YouTube just so I don't get confused, but that's not required. When I've gotta update, I don't need to uninstall the previous version of patched YouTube anymore, it's all so simple now
How do the people working on a small passion project completely for free in their spare time just out of spite for advertising manage to fix their app faster than google or Reddit do?
I couldn't live without revanced. I refuse to pay for YouTube or tolerate their ads.
Same
Just got Reddit is Fun working again by patching the apk with Revanced manager.
Don't tell anyone but I'm still using Boost for Reddit unpatched somehow
Edit: unpatched*
i sorta feel like going off to the beach for a burger and sunset
Sounds like heaven.
will try to return in the morning by breakfast time
I shall be with you in spirit
the lord be with me
Bloody hell, another car accident happened right in front of me. Just around the corner from the last one. This one seems a lot more minor though, judging mainly on the fact I barely heard the thud and the beeping lasted about 2 seconds. Everybody looks fine
💨
What’s the 🔥HOT TAKE?🔥
The funny sloth scene is more than a little true. I went to the Department of Transport yesterday literally to pick up a spare number plate (It's the same number plate as the car, just goes on the bike rack so the bikes don't obfuscate the rear plate) that is there waiting for me. A 5-minute errand. I got there an hour before closing.
'Nope, we're too busy today. Come back another day'.
'but the number plate is here. I'm just picking it up. I don't need anything from you'.
'There are too many people waiting. Some of them have been here three hours already.'
'But, you're only open 9-4:30 weekdays. It is super rare that I get a chance to drop in while you're open.'
'Take a day off work to visit us. Get here by lunchtime.'
Not much better in Vic, and I'm guessing all the states. Tassie and the ACT may be exceptions I guess since like nobody lives there, although on account of nobody living there, maybe nobody works there just making the problem worse.
My advice? Start acting like you live in Hawaii. Or maybe Spain at siesta time. Everything mañana. License plates? Mañana. Doing your work? Mañana. Losing 30% of your blood every 10 minutes? Mañana, but maybe a little less mañana than the rest of them
Start embracing that Perth time!
End of week drinks should not be announced/celebrated until 5pm on the last normal working day of the week.
At least after this weekend, you guys are only going to be two hours ahead. People in here are usually celebrating Friday drinks before I even have lunchtime.
I knocked off at half 3 yesterday so nah nah 😝
Easter is overrated. I'd rather just have a 3 day weekend like most of the rest of the world where Good Friday is a PH, and add the extra day somewhere in July or something
I get a 5 day weekend out of it. Great except for the year I forgot that and went in on Tuesday.
i have no doubt tomorrow i will crave something i do not crave right now, something i can easily get from the supermarket
I ate some food at work, I feel so lethergic at the moment. Feels like this is going to be a very long day.
Anyone here remember the music festival that used to run back in the late 90s/early 00s, which was just independent Australian/NZ acts (I think)..? A Something For Kate song just came on and it triggered a whole lost memory of going to the showgrounds back in the day to see Shihad, Powderfinger, Something For Kate etc...wasn't early BDO, was a smaller indie type thing...
Oh man I'm not entirely sure, but you've just unlocked an awesome memory of when I saw Powderfinger/Something for Kate/Stella One Eleven at the Coogee Bay Hotel in Sydney back in '99 - one of my all time fave gigs to this day.
EDIT: Maybe you mean the Livid Festivals in 2002/2003? Powderfinger & SFK did 2002, Shihad 2003. Wasn't at the Showgrounds though. From what I can see, Powderfinger have only ever played there as part of BDO, nothing else.
Can you tell this is bugging me now too?!? :D

Aaah, I'm probably mixing memories then. I didn't ever go to Livid, but I did many a BDO. I think the show in thinking of was an under-age gig, or at least alcohol free. Was definitely (I'm almost positive) at the showgrounds because I remember knowing my way around on account of going to BDO. Definitely saw Shihad there, thought Something For Kate and Powderfinger too, bit they might have been at the BDO. Custard too, now I'm thinking about it
Saw Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire this evening. I like that they're not taking it too seriously these days with this franchise. It's simple storied, full of cheesy exposition and it's big dumb fun. There is a place in the world for kaiju movies which delve into human nature and deeper meanings but this franchise ain't it... and that's just fine by me.
Young Eagle and I are off to see it tomorrow morning. I'm glad to know I will at least be entertained.
Ahahahaha, I put my cake face on and now I can’t be bothered going out. 😂
Edit: Present me is ever so pleased with past me. An unopened bottle of Merlot has been discovered. Cheese with these new fandangled Red Rock Sundried Tomato + Italian Herbs it is!
Oh and some SBS. Watching Truth Will Out, but the other half of the household is out so something else will have to do.
You mean you did the whole white down then sat on the sofa in? Never done that ever. Swear on my corset strings.
Oh… This is not the first time. Haha. I did face, put casual duds on and went to the supermarket. Was going to treat myself with a late bougie supper out afterwards, but then got home and was like meh…
(Also have corseted up before to go but then couldn’t be arsed and had fun drinking next door at my neighbour’s.)
Dunno… I also take a revoltingly long time to get ready when doing the whole shebang, so that doesn’t help.
Not all bad though, catching up on the Shibaru/Kinbaku doco over wine and cheese seems a good trade off. :)
Snuck a cheeky can of bourbon into the cinema instead of buying a ludicrously expensive softdrink. Damn The Man. Break the system.
