It's not that extreme with pornography, but if a black man acted in a KKK propaganda film willingly, the message of the film would still be demeaning for black people.
Even if porn actress are doing that willingly, and even if porn films aren't propaganda, they still convey a vision of womanhood which is demeaning.
Political violence can only create a violent new regime. If you want peace, you have to fight peacefully. Yes it's harder, but it's the only way. But peaceful doesn't mean passive (or law abiding)!
I'm not Canadian so I may miss something important, but for me the problem (and it's the same in my country) is not that he has 2000$ shoes (if they are the same shoes indeed); it's that he stages his belonging to the people, and that these shoes show the artificial nature of this staging.
I like Ehrman. I think Jesus had, before the Resurrection, no clear idea of who/what he was and that what Ehrman shows is how the early church not invented but discovered the divinity of Jesus.
Calvin was totally opposed to this kind of theology. I presume you're referencing to Weber; but if you read The Protestant Ethic closely, he didn't speak about mainstream Calvinism of his time, but German puritanism, which was opposed by mainstream Calvinism.
There are many possible points of disagreement within Christianity because, like it or not, the Bible is unclear and even contradicts itself on many subjects (and this is a Christian saying this). But prosperity theology is so clearly the opposite of everything in the Bible that any self-respecting evangelical should ostracize it. That they don't is the proof that the gospel is not what many evangelicals are interested in.

Man, porn is scripted you know. And by men for men. Porn actresses don't express their sexuality, but the fantasies of the consumers.
