Also… ya know, a big mismatch in technology. Sure a lot of folks have ARs and shit, some folks have Barret .50 cal sniper rifles. None of them have a fucking AH-64E Apache.
Baseball (and sports in general) are wonderful man made examples of evolution and how selection pressure can force the expression of certain traits. About 25% of MLB players are left handed, versus about 10% in the general population.
A similar thing has occurred in the NBA where the average height is about 6’6” (or 198.6cm for those opposed to Freedom Units), which is about 8 inches taller than the average American male.
Doubtless, you can look at any top level professional sport league and find some physical trait (or set of traits) that is wholly disproportionate compared to the general population due to those traits providing some advantage(s) that is unique to that game.
Not much point in hanging onto an assignment that will evaporate with the next administration… especially if you think your talents and skills are better utilized elsewhere.
These raises that make the news are the cost of living adjustments or the COLA. They happen annually at the beginning of the calendar year and are intended to adjust salaries for year over year inflation. It’s not related to any sort of performance or merit based pay increases.
Health insurance… mother fucking health insurance.
The FEHB is some of the best health insurance there is…. I know folks who are only still doing their fed job to continue access to the great insurance.
And you get to keep it for the rest of your life if you retire. I believe you pay the premium through your annuity.
It was good fun. I enjoyed the whimsical and trippy bits with the flower you could get in each level… and how the game mechanics changed each time.
Whether or not it deserves a series though??? I don’t really think so. These smaller Mario games like Wonder, 3D World, Bowser’s Fury, and New Super Mario Bros U to me are nice little appetizers between bigger 3D open world adventures like Odyssey and Galaxy. More than anything, I’d love love love LOVE to see a sequel of some sort for Odyssey or at least a few DLC worlds. But with Mario Wonder just releasing, and getting a Mario movie, I don’t think we’re going to see another major open world Mario game until the Switch’s successor releases.
I liked Wonder; I liked the movie; but if given the choice, 10 times out of 10 I’d choose even DLC for Odyssey over either of them… Wonder and the Movie were fun. Odyssey was pure joy. It’s been a looooong time since a video game made me unconsciously smile for as long as Odyssey did.
What else should it be called? I don’t think there’s some moral responsibility placed upon the patron to make up for the loss, even with that name. It’s a gamble for the business that is usually thought out and is intended to lead to an increase in profits overall due to margins baked into items that aren’t on promo.
Sure, it’s considered poor taste to come to a restaurant solely for the free bread and some water and then leave, but it’s completely fair game to take advantage of a loss leading promotion like “endless shrimp” or Costco’s $1.75 for a hot dog and soda. The loss leader gets you in the door. They have other strategies to make that loss worth their while. If you walk in and pound more shrimp than Red Lobster can cover with the margins on the rest of your ticket, that’s their fault not yours… the house lost that bet.
He got released due to some shoddy legal work by the prosecution when they made an agreement with him in a civil case where he waived his 5th Amendment rights against self incrimination. He gave tons of self incriminating depositions in that case with the explicit understanding that he wouldn’t be prosecuted criminally.
Then they used those depositions to prosecute him criminally….
The only reason Doug Jones was elected in the first place is because he was running against Roy Moore. Literally any other Republican candidate would have handily beaten Jones. Tubby just rode his name into congress.
If you don’t think the Apache is sexy, you’re not an aviation enthusiast.
