  • In a Japanese language course, students were assigned native speaker penpals. I had asked some pretty boring questions in the first letter like how old are you, what are your hobbies, etc. The teacher proofread the letters before we sent them. The feedback I got: you really don't need to ask what nationality they are, there's only one country that uses Japanese. I turned beet red on that one.

  • Idiotectomies required the subject's corporation for the best results. Hanneman's (Journal of Medical Ethics, June 2017) breakthrough, illustrated here, uses bomb glasses to increase compliance. It is rare the fuse needs to be lit, but a lighter should be kept in plain view of the subject as both reminder and enforcement if necessary.

  • I learn about the characters, myself included, throughout the campaign through their actions. Otherwise session one is like that time I asked a coworker about one of his tattoos and had to hear about his sister's murder. That's more of a session two+ thing to me.

  • I miss the days when there wasn't as much plot. We didn't need Samus to have a relationship to the Chozo. They were just cool, mysterious alien statues. They could attack her. Then in Zero they could only have a puzzle battle to help her.

I really prefer the gameplay of Super as well. There aren't so many speed booster puzzles. No long cutscenes. It's really good at letting me get into a flow state. The music is great, too. If you're not good at the game, you can get enough items to make a lot more mistakes. If you're super good at it, there's tons of sequence breaks.

Another thing I did not like about Zero was the stealth parts. Also didn't like the qte in Dread nor the railroading. And the 2 remake's parry mechanic was also annoying and constantly interrupted flow.

I'm surprised you liked two so much an I found the Gameboy one extremely repetitive. AM2R made it amazing, though, so if you haven't tried that, give it a go. Not sure where you can get it these days, though.

The plots have also sometimes been meme worthy bad. Other M comes to mind.

Another thing I really didn't like with some of the plot driven ones was excuses to not have items that were based on Samus being somebody's subordinate. Just let me explore. Don't give me a manager.

But if Super isn't doing it for you, that's valid. I hope you get more enjoyment than frustration from the series.

  • Bioremediation of sewage locations in the aim of the new type of shark. The benzoylecgonine causes the shark to seek out these locations. The cocaine provides the desire to clean until every last speck is gone while telling nearby fish about its screenplay.

  • I think it's pretty common that systemic problems are painted as personal failures. Poor? Get on that grind. Fat? cAlOrIeS iN cAlOrIeS oUt. Medical debt? Go do a Kickstarter. Got depression? Have you tried sunshine? Got ADHD? Just make habits. Anxious? Meditate. Can't find a job? Just walk into a place with your resume and a firm handshake and variations thereof. Etc etc.

It's everywhere because people want to think the world is just and they deserve their successes. This is just the other side of the coin, that people must deserve the misfortunes that happen to them.

But also screw people that can't show up on time habitually.

  • Capturing a retrograde ejaculation on film is a rite of passage for many medical videographers. The urethra is plugged up by the camera leaving nowhere for ejaculate to go but into the bladder. The prostate is stimulated until orgasm. Once the filming is complete, the subject should be given a light snack and released back into the wild.

  • Squids are naturally clostrophobic when on land. Signs include squirming and dilated pupils. Soothing music and conversation can help, but often times the patient must be sedated to obtain an MRI.
