  • I’ve heard this several times and don’t understand what “teeth blood” is either. It’s just dropped like it’s a common thing we are all familiar with.

  • They’re mechanically secured, of course. I don’t see why they’d need locks though.

  • I just had a dream where I used a laptop. I was on the phone with someone and had AirPods, but don’t remember seeing the phone.

  • That's what I do not understand. She does use home telephones the same way, on speaker, but with those she comprehends it's not always in speaker mode and if not, to hold it up to her ear.

  • My mom has long been clueless and resistant about anything tech related. Years back I switched her laptop to Linux because I was so sick of all the stupid crap with malware on windows. We used to have to Fix her computer one or more times a month. With Linux, that went to zero, and the only issue was setting up the software to download images from her camera (this was about 2010). These days she has a Chromebook and is constantly convinced it’s “screwed up”.

  • My mother can’t comprehend how to use a cell phone without it being on speaker. She also doesn’t know how to switch it to speaker. If I hand her the phone in normal mode she holds it out in front of her and can’t figure out why she can’t hear anything.

  • Windows 95, 98 and ME were all DOS based.

  • Pretty sure they were being sarcastic, but your point makes sense (in conservative world where socialism is Bad) without the clown.

  • Wow, I recalled AltaVista, Lucia and Excite but have not thought of HotBot in forever.

  • I was in a post on reddit sometime when we all got lectured about how every vegetable oil sucks and it's better to eat lard or duck fat or tallow. "You clearly don't know about lipids". Haven't figured out of that's true or not but I'd definitely rather use butter than margarine.

  • No. You can still see profiles and posts of banned users unless they’re otherwise removed. The profiles say “banned” in red at the top.

  • They get manipulated about and distracted by certain issues. The people who want power know this and exploit topics such as guns, abortion, fear of crime, racism/nationalism, sexism, economic issues and taxes. Plenty of people vote republican because they have been convinced that Democrats will take their guns, allow in too many immigrants (with the implicit idea that immigrants are bad somehow), be worse on the economy, raise taxes, let criminals get off easy, reduce the influence of Christianity, and so forth.

There’s also the decades of propaganda about socialism and communism, and against social safety nets as well as government and anything run by the government vs a private entity. So basically, because they’re not very aware or well informed and all themselves to be convinced by propaganda.

  • It’s funny in a way but still horrifying since someone that narcissistic and ignorant is in charge of the government.

  • Maybe they should have done this about a year ago.

  • It’s amazing how Republicans manage to brand all their shit as the complete opposite of what it really is.

  • It annoys me a lot when people I know say “Trump is funny”. Not really… he’s a whiny, conceited asshole. He might be somewhat amusing if he wasn’t the President. As it is, this isn’t funny at all.

  • I have a friend who says “I’m not political” and I’m just what? So you don’t have any opinion on whether immigrants should get fucked or gay people should have rights? His position is “I see so many families and friends torn apart by disagreements so I’m just not political”. Okay. It makes me think he’s kind of a dolt. I don’t feel like it’s possible to not have an opinion on social issues at the least.

  • Plenty of voter suppression in swing states, like unenrolling people from voter registration lists. Also the ongoing issues like 4 hour lines in urban areas, due to not enough voting facilities and machines, and short or no lines in rural areas and suburbs. Also, how it’s easier for people with certain types of jobs to go vote but hourly workers etc have a harder time getting there since voting day isn’t a holiday.
