  • Most of this only works if you play along. If they all just said no, there would be nothing like this. The only real threat is to Google because it’s a legit monopoly. I don’t see what a substantial executive branch threat would be on any of the social medias. The TikTok thing only happened due to the China tag.

  • You’re saying they’re going along to get along.

It’s bizarre that anyone would care about a subreddit, unless it’s spite. Basically, oh, you banned incels and nazis? You will be dismantled as a monopoly (or some other ludicrous threat) if you don’t now ban trans. That’s what you get.

As I type that last paragraph I’m thinking of the 1A speech in November that everyone, minus ~300k people on YT, ignored. He promised to search out and go after the moderators, the banners, the shadow banners (who told him about shadow banning?), of all of social media, and punish them. This is likely the “polished” rollout of that directive, per his admin.

Remember, when trump told staff to do things during the first 4 people did a lot of nodding and then did nothing, talked him out of things, talked him into waiting on that, as well as having gaping holes where staff should have been. Now, he gives a directive, and the Project 2025 people and corporate can say “yes sir” and twist that trump directive into whatever shape they like.

  • Instead of echo chambering shitty journalism sites like commondreams, rawstory, new republic, etc, locations that feed you the headlines you want to hear or validate confirmation bias searching, and turning into Reddit, talk to people.

It’s a blind faith thing. They believe. The MAGA ethos of Trump encompasses Elon Musk. It’s like Jupiter’s magnetic field extending its protection to its moons. The MAGAs are making excuses for Elon just like they do for Trump.

The main argument: he’s not doing it for money, he’s already rich.

When you ask why is Elon doing it then, the answers get sycophantic and delve into the straight, benevolent love of America. (I know, lol.)

Remember, politics relies on drive by ideas that can be contained in a single, simple sentence, not essays. Essay readers are in the minority. Article readers beyond headlines are a minority. You have to have a punchy counter argument that fits a sentence as easily as the “he’s already rich, it’s love of America” or you’ll lose that debate.

  • Tea (oolong, black, green, white) all comes from one plant. Camellia sinensis. Each type is just processed in different ways.

Camellia sinensis is quite susceptible to fungus, such that it’s marinated in fungicide. Usually 3 fungicides.

Your bananas, before delivery, are submerged in a vat of liquid fungicide so they can travel.

The good news is greens are fast and easy to grow. You can grow quite a lot of them year round, on your terms.

  • I would really like an Imperfect Foods replacement. Originally, IF was scratch and dent ugly veggies on discount with some consignment items. Post covid, prices crept up and then you had to pick and choose to get a deal, but you could still get a good box for under $40 every 2 wks that also included things like farro and yogurt. Misfit Marketplace bought them out and it took on a Whole Foods by mail vibe. Double to triple the regular grocery store prices. It would be $80+/week for the same box content which is galling. And it’s not the groceries, it’s MM. Who is paying $3 for 1 cucumber? $4 for 2 apples? $8 for a single pound of grapes or a pint of blueberries?

New potential produce sources are most welcome.

  • There is greater demonstration of community among non white people. As such, theres a built in hook not just for saying hello to a stranger, but for coming together to organize something like this. I think that’s more likely where it’s coming from than what you’re thinking.

Either way, I’d like a better veggie source for the things we don’t grow ourselves.

  • That feels like an entire west coast thing should it happen. With the State of Jefferson screaming as they go along for the ride, or go full bore militia.

Frankly, it doesn’t feel like we’re there yet. The physical of what he’s done is executive orders. With hella overspending on moving small numbers of immigrants.

His birthright thing was shut down in court with a shame on you for even trying this to the lawyers from the Reagan judge. His spending freeze is dead. Elons attempt to get people to quit, because it’s safer than firing, is legit backfiring because those federal employees WANT to resist.

Ask yourself why he isn’t introducing congressional bills, if he owns both the house and senate, instead of executive orders down the line. A bill is more solid ground after all.

Showmanship. And a bid to see how many will roll over and play subdued to an idea that isn’t fully a reality unless you choose to believe it.

We’re not there yet. Not enough believe this chicanery bid to make a king and tear down the constitution as of yet. Even the Reagan judge said he did t believe when he made that constitutional decision.

But if it goes, it would be full west coast, en force. Granted, even then, how does that even work with the naval bases and military forts? Is it really that simple?

  • I’m not 100% on NYT. Their roaring silence on Luigi was bothersome to say the least.

That said, I did check back in with the Ezra Klein podcast this morning. It wasn’t his usual thing, but a 12min piece entitled “Don’t Believe Him.” (You can play it or read it, it’s on most podcast listings: apple, Spotify, Castro, etc)

Basically, this blitzkrieg of executive orders is a show right up until we CHOOSE to believe in it. It’s only as effective as places like the WSJ say it’s effective, and people rolling over and playing dead in capitulation with a yeah, sure. The entire “muzzle velocity” approach is meant to scatter and demoralize opposition.

His reason for avoiding congress is if these executive orders went through Congress, he would lose. And that would make him look weak. And thus his plan of King Trump would die. Remember, this is a man who has NEVER been interested in the Constitution of The United States of America, only power.

The birthright thing has already been laughed out of court by a Reagan nominee, for starters. Because, Constitution. Now, if that judge had decided to “believe him”, it would’ve gone differently.

Think about it. He wasn’t holding court with most of Congress at Maralago, but key social media influencers: Google, Facebook, Bezos, and he already had Musk.

  • This question is a piece of the small talk death conversation. I don’t feel it should be asked unless you want to know. But that is me. I also loathe small talk, I feel it’s for people who can’t handle silence and thus demand energy from other to full said silence.

Others ask it like it’s the equivalent of “hello”. Saying the truth is like hearing “hello” and then talking about your life. Saying “hello” back is done by saying “fine”.

Where this messes up the human metric is the habitual responding. A provider enters a room in the morning to ask a hospitalized patient how they feel. Instead of responding honestly the patient says “fine”. Provider leaves to move onto the next patient. After the provider is gone for that day the patient realizes their error, or doesn’t understand why the provider disappeared so fast.

  • Political theater. It also reads like a shot across Gavin Newsom’s bow that says he can fuck with CA water whenever he likes. Details that are given include how there was no coordination with CA officials, Trump just went over all their heads and drained water from reservoirs, followed by a social media post of the flow bragging about releasing the needed water.

What is the currency CA needs most? Water. Trump admin showed a distinctive “power over” move here that says to Newsom he can drain the reservoirs whenever he likes.

I think we need to consider authoritarian interpretations of behaviors like these going forward.

  • So you think he’s slapping Gavin Newsom around with this. And deliberately screwing over California crop GDP and the little guy via increased grocery prices. Trump isn’t good for farmers. When will farmers realize that?

I initially saw it as political theater to go with his false statements about fire preparedness.

  • Remember, this is the newspaper with the owner who will creatively edit things to be in tune with Trumps status quo.

Including an editorial being altered to claim RFK was a great way to change healthcare problems.

I’m looking for the reasons you wouldn’t release water right now and can’t find any in the article. Does that mean this is a great idea with no downside or that this article too, has been creatively edited by the Trump licking owner?

  • The reform needed is money based at the corporate level. Watch episode 1 of The Pitt and listen to all the commentary about the system, including the talk with the administrator, happening around the medical cases. THAT is the stuff that needs fixing. “Boarders” as they talk about, are very real.

Reform involves breaking big pharma. Reform involves breaking the nonsensical pricing practices of insurance companies. A CT scan should have 1 price. Period. But it does not.

If Kennedy had his way in 2020, there’d be no vaccine. Hospitals would’ve shut down because healthcare workers likely would not have stayed without it. (Yes, a sliver of workers into nonsense and anti vax left, but let’s not inflate those numbers alongside the majority of doctors, nurses, and other staff.)

Kennedy reform involves snake oil and nonsense instead of actual medicine. Raw milk? Really?

Also, the LA Times has gone fascist.

  • The bird flu is likely affecting all of North America. Mine is commentary on Canada vs States rxns on the price of eggs.

I can’t imagine the focus on eggs for most of 2024 didn’t impact the price hike as well.

  • Honestly, it looks like the mall ninja tried the skin bronzer and then tried to get rid of it after. The thing is he’s going to have to wait for the dyed skin cells to shed off to replace themselves, as they do. The face itself sheds at different rates in different areas.

This is a disturbing thought, that he is so keen on cozying up Trump he tried the look. Has he changed his hair too? I don’t keep track.

  • I’m finding 18 for $9. Discount groceries. Not Walmart, that place is more expensive post 2020 than dedicated discount grocery stores.

Even so. Eggs priced like meat is going to cause a lot of protein malnutrition going forward.
