  • My hope is that you could still register using the online portal but... these people really don't give a shit if their decrees are cruel and cause pain. Elon Musk considers empathy to be a fundamental human flaw and this shit will never personally affect him.

  • Maybe the Jewish faith has kept to that but Christians have a long tradition of practicing syncretism and priests were happy just to get a Danish king to say "Hail Odin the all father and Freyr's might and uh... also the Christian God I guess."

  • This is something I tell my coworkers with ADHD as a senior level person and former manager - you need to accept yourself and what you can do. Sure, exploit the fuck out of brain on time and crash through tasks - but accept that this is temporary. Feeling in the dumps and guilty about not being productive - accept that this is also temporary and (I know this isn't easy) try and tear yourself away from the task and be unproductive in the most pleasant manner... I try to go for walks when I'm in a slump and sometimes it lets me shuffle my brain enough to be productive - sometimes it doesn't... but I'm happier having had a walk than zoning out in indecision.

It's all temporary - our most common strength is improvising and we need to respond to what our brain tells us instead of fighting it constantly and I hope you all have jobs that allow you to do so because I have had an "always on" job and it was absolutely miserable.

  • Companies where there are long tenured employees outside of management is my ultimate green flag. If you can figure out who is in management by drawing names out of a hat by senority and stop when you run through 80% of managers without hitting a single IC then you should be aware that ICs have very little say in how the company is run so half the managers are there out of frustration because they needed to become a manager to enact change.
