I don't know why some people are surprised by this, they are perfectly consistent: if they agree with the law it's good and should be upheld, if they don't agree with the law it's evil and is destroying our country.
If you're planning on keeping Windows intact and you have a spare drive lying around I recommend temporarily removing your main SSD and installing the distro on the spare. This will prevent potential bootloader issues if you decide Linux isn't your daily driver.
The downside is if you want to swap OSes you'll need to select the drive you want to boot from in BIOS.
Back when the other site first shut down there was an update to jerboa that made any instance under v18 unusable. Which was most of them for about a week.
I like how the "don't dead, open inside" at the end just works.
