  • US Democrats, as represented by the modern party leadership have only one ideological goal, that is to preserve and promote neoliberal capitalism. They will adopt or throw away any policy stance including socially progressive policy positions, based on their interpretation of how that position aids their core goal. That is why, for example, they will effortlessly swing from a pro-immigration positions to deporting more immigrants and asylum seekers than the Republicans. Socialism in any form, however mild, is antithetical to neoliberal capitalism. That is why the leadership, as currently structured , will never ever permit an ideological socialist like Sanders to gain power. If you observe the Democratic Party leadership playing footsie with socialist-adjacent policies, like social security, it’s merely a tactical maneuver to mange its constituents toward their neoliberal capitalist goals. Never fool yourself into believing that the Democratic Party leadership have any actual ideological affinity for even mildly socialistic programs. They will effortlessly swing on that too if they feel they need to.

I literally believe that we are less than a decade from the Democrats explicitly embracing fascism. You will eventually see Democratic Party representatives doing Nazi salutes at their convention, just like the current Republicans, unless there is a major course correction in that party.

  • There’s nothing redeemable about Russia’s oligarchic regime. People who do support it are either excited about doing right wing bigotry, or providing peasant-brained support for the idea of having feudal lords that will supposedly protect them.

As much as I hate the authoritarian regime in China, at least they have achieved meaningful outcomes for many of their people and seem to be investing in a long-term plan to continue that momentum.

As others have expressed on this thread, it’s important to apply your righteous sense of justice to the US as well. When you do, you will start to realize that we've been an unspeakably damaging force for both the wellbeing of our own people, and people globally. As an American, I can tell you that it’s quite a shock to wake up from decades of programming and realize the scale of violence my own country has perpetuated.

  • I hope that’s true and I hope it happens. I’m concerned because I see examples like the administration successfully exerting pressure on other states to relax their law enforcement in cases like Romania’s prosecution of the Tate brothers.

  • I’m old enough to remember when Elon released “the twitter files” in an attempt to demonstrate how the federal government supposedly exerted egregious pressure on private media in violation of first amendment right.

  • This little nation’s ability to fund and conduct war on so many simultaneous fronts on such a sustained basis without consequence is remarkable. It’s almost like they’re really just a front for the largest military machine in the history of the world.

  • This “many unique viewpoints” talking point is one that I’m encountering more and more as I increasingly confront normies in my community on their support for genocide. It’s a dishonest attempt to deflect attention away from responsibility for unspeakable awfulness and violence by appealing to the natural intellectual desire to be open minded and fair.

I feel like I’m surrounded by ghouls, and it’s exhausting.

  • It’s simply amazing that the US has such a profound carve out in its foreign policy for this one little cruel nation. They attacked a US Navy ship and we were cool with that. They stole nuclear material from us, and we were cool with that.

  • Why the masks? Aren’t Republicans the ones that keep bitching about how wearing a mask implicates you as a criminal agitator when it comes to people protesting? Exactly what do these brownshirt motherfuckers have to hide? It’s almost like they’re aware that they need to protect themselves from accountability when the Nuremberg style trials start.

  • I’m not talking about the inciting incident, I’m talking about the reporting on the incident. If there is a meaningful security breach related to US military operations, the president sure needs to be aware of it, especially if it being reported on in public.

  • I would just like to point out that this is entirely correct, but it’s the Democrats that always shit the bed on opportunities like this, not the left. The democrats have very little to do with ‘the left’ these days. Just sayin’.
