Thought exercise: Which assassination would have more efficacy in the long term, trump, Vance or Musk?

Why resign? Keep refusing the order. You can’t keep blocking it if you don’t work there anymore. They will eventually fire you, but that will slow things down.

I think that this company needs to be burned to the ground.

While this letter says a lot of correct things and things that sound good, I find no comfort in it or anything to indicate that Democrats are mobilizing to actually accomplish anything at all. It talks a lot about how trump is bad, how Musk is bad, and how Project 2025 is bad. True, true, and true. It waxes fondly about labor and the working class. Great, thanks. It doesn’t, however, say anything about what they are doing, or going to do. What policies are they going to advance? What positions are they adopting, beyond vague platitudes? Why should anyone believe that their interests are now aligned with the working class after they’ve spent the last few weeks courting and reassuring super wealthy donors in Silicon Valley? What are they claiming has changed since they blew the last election?

Democrats need to learn that no one cares what’s in their hearts. No one cares that you are a good person, or that you have the best of intentions, or you have a great backstory. No one cares that you’re smart, or better qualified than the other guy. All they want to know is what are you going to do, and how are you going to do it. Then, when handed power, you have to actually, ya know, do those things.

I know that this letter isn’t the sum total of Democratic Party strategy, but there’s nothing here to indicate that the party has learned anything from the smoldering wreckage of their last forty years of activity. There’s nothing here to indicate that they’re prepared to fight the existential disaster being unfurled by the fascist administration, a cucked congress and corrupt court.

If this letter had merit, it would include things like:

“…and that is why we are going to change course. To assure that the policies we pursue are aligned with the working class, we are going to reject large donations from billionaires and corporations…”

“…so we will push for the specific polices that manifest these values, including….”

“…until we achieve a position of power, we will focus on spreading awareness of the true divide in this country. The people need to know that their real enemies are not immigrants, or trans kids. Their true enemies are the billionaires, the oligarchs, and the unaccountable corporate machines that…”

Until Democrats start doing these things, they will continue losing elections to the worst people in the world. And, when they do manage to win, they will continue to enable the worst people in the world. None of the current awfulness would have been possible, without the incompetence and malice of a Democratic Party that became decoupled from the interests of the vast majority of Americans decades ago. There’s nothing in this letter that indicates a re-coupling. Instead, there’s a lot of happy talk that, through years of inaction, the electorate has been trained to no longer believe.

So, let me know if I understand what the US is proposing. In exchange for getting Russia to agree to only annex a large chunk of the country (for now), Ukraine must cede a huge percentage of its natural resources to the US as payment. Is that about it?

Does anyone know what the criminal implications are for pissing on a grave like his? Like, I’m sure it’s illegal, but how illegal are we talking? A ticket? Worse?

How bad is it that I no longer care about engaging with these fuckers rhetorically anymore and pretty much just want to see violence inflicted upon them? That’s really bad right? Are a lot of people struggling like this?

Well, this thing isn’t going to just enshitify itself, now is it.

There was a time when Apple was able to infuse some level of class into its products relative to competitors. I suppose they were able to do that because their growth was driven by exciting products. With their now listless and moribund product strategy, they have to cash in the equity they built up in customer experience to fund shareholder value.

I am confident that adding AI slop will surely clarify why anyone would want a face computer. If they can figure out a way to get crypto in there, whoa, this thing is going to the moon.

Yes, all my coworkers, including my managers are now younger than me. So when a manager takes everyone out, the waiters assume that I’m the one treating everyone to lunch.

A girl that stopped me on the street to ask directions concluded the exchange with “Thank you sir.”

Also, the waiters now automatically bring the bill to me when I have lunch with coworkers.

One of my favorite recent trends has people being all annoyed when others pull the Nazi card to describe actual neo-nazis. I know that Godwin’s Law is a funny thing and all, but like, there are actual white-identity fascist out there doing stuff. You do realize that, right?

During the election I assumed that the younger cohort was lock-step opposed to trump — until — my college age daughter told me that many of her school friends were probably voting for him. I was absolutely flabbergasted and had to reset a lot of assumptions I’d settled into. During the first trump administration, I was clinging to the expectation that younger generations would be our saviors, but I can no longer count on that.

This backstab should permanently damage any credibility the US has as an ally. If you are smart, you will never rely on the US in international affairs.

It seems that the only thing the Democratic Party is remotely good at, is making me want not support Democrats.

As someone who in an earlier era self-described as an unapologetic Apple fanboy, I’m surprised by how quickly and comprehensively they have flushed all that good will away. I was already critical of their increasingly visionless product strategy. And I had already tired of the repetitive, self-absorbed marketing. But, to see them capitulate to a fascist party on several symbolic points is too much. If they’re willing to fold on trivia like the Gulf of Mexico (in Maps), and fold on problematic platforms like Musk’s Twitter, then I have to assume every claim they make, (like their commitment to privacy) is equally hollow. JFC, I hate Apple so much.
