  • I installed Slackware from 24 floppies I downloaded from a Volkerdings personal server, because I didn't have a CD ROM. I installed using documentation printed on a dot matrix printer that was versions out of date.. It took a day to compile a kernel. I've had to manually patch drivers (3c509 baaabyyy).

I dreamed about a future where I never had to do that again. Arch pisses me off.

  • This is nothing. Wait until you see what the corporations will do when they're told to stop polluting say the water source of a major city and they say fuck you to the EPA

It's gonna get so so so much worse

"Millions leave Chicago because Dow Chemical poisons the water table. When asked for comment a DOW chemical PR representative said: 'Yeah, suck a dick losers' "

  • Yes. That is how it works. It doesn't take a genius to extrapolate these outcomes. It actually takes concerted effort through propaganda and misinformation to maintain the level of cognitive dissonance we have about it.

  • Meaning a little less than half of that radius is way way way less than 20 million times less dense. That's wild.

I think about that when looking at luminous gas clouds that are millions of lys across. We can only "see" it because all the photons coming from that region of space is concentrated in a tiny visible area.

  • They do, but space is very big, and gravity is relatively weak in comparison.

The strength of gravity drops off exponentially with distance. For a star to consume another star they need to be really close.

This is made even more difficult when you consider they're all moving through empty space really really fast.

  • I suspect that it's more for "engagement" and clickbait than malice from the headline writer.

that is if you don't think that this kind of communication isn't harmful to the human race at least. Which it is. Obviously.

  • You would maybe not be surprised to know that there is way waaaaay more in common from one software project to another. Especially games which essentially all use one of a handful of game engines and asset sources.

I think proper codifying engineering standards for software would also help.. maybe even should happen first.

  • From his description he wants it to take place in the MAGA THUNDERDOME.

Still think Pete Buttigieg would slay regardless.

I have to admit I don't know how Kamal would do, but that's just my ignorance of her real time media savvy
