  • I am slightly ashamed to admit the reason I'm not going to consider pop os is the stupid way they write it: Pop!_OS.

I'm already running 11 Linux VMs (and 3 bare metal Linux OS's) in my homelab so I think I've got plenty of Linux here anyway.

  • And you as the operator of the bot would just end up in a war with people who have different ways of expressing the same thing without using those words. You'd be spending all your time doing that, and lest we forget, there are a lot more people who want to disrupt these bots than there are people operating them. So you'd lose that fight. You couldn't win without writing a preprocessor so strict that the bot would be trivially detectable anyway! In fact, even a very loose preprocessor is trivially detectable if you know its trigger words.

The thing is, they know this. Having a few bots get busted like this isn't that big a deal, any more than having a few propaganda posters torn off of walls. You have more posters, and more bots. The goal wasn't to cover every single wall, just to poison the discourse.

  • They also gave it a catchy, vague name that people can associate anything they want with, but short enough to remember easily. No "PATRIOT Act" here. The only way they could have made it an easier target would be to call it "The Document of Sinister Evil".

    1. As president, it won't matter. She'll sign anything her party gives her to sign, because there's zero reason for her to pick a fight with congressional democrats.
    2. In 2019 she literally and specifically backed Medicare for All, so this claim is factually incorrect.
    1. Seems like a very reasonable objection to me. I'd guess that most of us Immich users are using it in the first place because it improves the privacy of our photos, and a third party seeing our location data certainly undermines that.
    2. I would have complained had I noticed, so you might be the first one to notice. Immich's userbase isn't huge right now, it's definitely possible.
    3. Featurewise, I'd like: a) a clearly documented way to disable map data leaving my server; b) a set of well-integrated choices (maybe even just two, as long as one of them is something like openstreetmap); c) the current configurability to be well documented.
    4. I'd love it if all such outbound data streams are also documented. Many security and privacy-focused products give you a "quiet" mode of some kind, where you can turn off everything that sends your data somewhere else. It's a requirement in many enterprise installations.
  • Melania is a terrible person but connecting this to her via the word "projection" means you think she is a whore, which is--wait for it--misogyny. I'm tired of hearing this shit from the same people who say they'll vote for Kamala. Do better.
