  • a careful cut or edit, could make all the difference.

given that the video is specifically presented as 'unprovoked' i'm going to guess it wasn't.

  • i mean, is it hardware?

if yes, then it has software that translates physical actions to software. that requires firmware.

  • pic of the newly married couple

this was pretty bad. it was bad enough that even back then you had people pointing out how bad it was. it was so bad that various states passed laws so that it would be against the law, going forward.

the textbook's point is that even though this wasn't common place, it was somewhat taken for granted.

i can kind of understand somethings. like how it was probably far more common back then for people to be married by the ages of 15-18. i can get that. but the case of Johns and Eunice, it was shocking even then. that should tell you something.

that thing being that Johns was a pedophile.

  • remember when they all bitched and moaned about 'government death panels'?

like it hadn't been going on already at the insurance companies.

  • when i was about 10 or so we moved to a new neighborhood. obviously that meant exploring the new area, and making new friends. the first people i met in that area lived down the road from me. two of my new friends were brothers, one a bit older than the other, both several years older than me. they had a neighbor, who was my age, and we attended 3rd grade together.

the older brother was a bit wiser and kinder, the younger brother could be a bit bullheaded at times. when i was about 15, i left to live with my dad. those 5 or so years seemed so incredibly formative on my upbringing, for good or bad. around that time the younger brother died in a car wreck, and i really hadn't spent much time with them since i moved away.

to this day, i remember something the older brother taught me, which was to try to learn something new everyday. you won't always succeed, but it's still important to try.

i'm 40. the amount of time i lived there was really only about 1/8th of my life. but i still try to learn something new everyday.

  • i remember about 20-25 years ago when Cowboy Bebop came out, they had a episode about them tripping mushrooms, which had a fantastic song as part of that episode's soundtrack, called Mushroom Hunting.

Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts fucking rocked.

also, i could totally go for some shrooms.

  • probably not a good idea to attack them and take hostages then.

  • i think that's a smart move on their part.

the CP2077 launch was rocky, but most of their previous games haven't had that level of hype. The Witcher 3 taking off like it did, gave them the confidence to go bigger. CP2077 is in a great place now, even if it didn't start that way.

  • Same for much on Steam. They wouldn’t be able to go erase stuff off your hard drives.

Many of the older games on Steam don’t have any DRM. Typically if they’re on GOG, they come the same way on Steam.

That said, I like GOG. It’s one of the few services I buy games on. But this argument that Steam games are locked down by DRM is is silly. Most games that are released on both platforms are identical.

  • really? i've been using SXM for over a decade. i've never seen a company that is so desperate to keep their customers. they'll do pretty much anything you ask of them.

tired of paying the bill? then don't. they'll cut it off after a few months. then they'll call and be willing to forgive the past bill, cut you back on, and you probably won't even have to pay it for another month or two.

whenever whatever deal i'm on expires, i simply call them up and tell them i'm thinking about cancelling. they'll usually offer something like service for $5 a month, if i'll pay for 6 months at a time or something.

i've never had even a hint of trouble with them in the last decade.

  • most of the things they're known for, they didn't invent. but they've always been better at packaging these ideas and tech up, and marketing them well.

  • dude's face says more than words can relate.

  • it's kind of like how Data and Lore's retarded brother was called B-4.

  • beer goes in, piss comes out. you can't explain that.

  • Yeah-yeah, some folks inherit star-spangled eyes
Hoo, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask 'em, "How much should we give?"
Hoo, they only answer, "More, more, more, more"

  • It doesn’t sound like a you problem. Sounds like a problem with him. As such the agency to fix the problem lies with him.

Move on and forget about him.

  • That same line of thinking got him in the first time.

  • I never made it far enough in math to understand this.
