I usually just keep it open on another desktop. But if you really want a tray icon, there are utilities that allow sending arbitrary programs to the system tray. I havent used it for a long time, but I remember using kdocker successfully in the past.

Oh I missed that he's using arch. In that case, he can install it from AUR, possibly building it himself, followed by only a few hours of troubleshooting what broke in his system after doing that :-P

Yes you can. You could organize certain aspects/fields of the economy differently, injecting communist ideas into otherwise capitalist countries. So a country where everything is subject to a "free", capitalist market could be calles less communist than a country, where for example the development and maintenance of public infrastructure is organized and funded by a government, be it democratic or authoritarian.

The stance that there is only pure capitalism or pure communism is propaganda used by both sides in order to prevent reforms.

Unfortunately I haven't got any source. I read that many years ago, so it's very possible that modern SSDs behave like you suggested.

I wouldn't use multiple partitions anymore. First of all, you would have to decide how large your home and system partitions are which can be annoying later if you either want to install large programs/games on your system or, say, download large videos into your home partition. Apart from that, SSDs life span is reduced if you partition them, because the controller then can't distribute writes across the while disk, so the cells will not get worn out uniformly.

Then just use one of the many distros that are built upon ubuntu. Linux Mint works great for linux beginners for example. I's basically ubuntu done right. I even got my parents to use it (they are using it for years now!).

Ok, dual battery where one is swappable is actually really nice as I said. It's possible that one ram slot in my 470s is also soldered... not sure. But honestly imo that shouldn't affect the decision at all. 24 gigs of Ram is enough, even today. 32 might be nice to have but very rarely makes any difference. 64 or more makes sense if you do video editing or the like, but apart from that is overkill. It depends on what you want, but I'd never sacrifice a plus in portability for the option to upgrade ram beyond 32 gigs in a laptop.

Citation needed. My T470s has dual battery, RAM is not soldered and it is easily servicable. I just upgraded the ssd not long ago. Also, I find the thickness difference significant enough. It's just a bit easier to slide in and out of your backpack. And I also prefered the general haptics of the S when comparing them back then. The price difference for the same configuration was somewhere between 100-200€ back then and I decided it was worth it. Total price was 1500, it was on a discount though.

Edit: Oh you probably meant that one of the batteries is swappable from the outside. That's definitely a nice feature of the ones without S. Also, the 480 might be already thinner and feel better than the 470 without S did...

The connectivity is also nice. The RJ45 socket is especially important for me, so the laptop couldn't be thinner anyway.

Not really an ultrabook, but the thinkpad T4xxS series is pretty great too and you would probably get stronger hardware for the same price than with an X1 carbon.

Edir: The xx meaning other numbers of course. I'm using a T470s for many years and am still happy with it. I've got a more powerful desktop computer as well though.

Not being sure about that is the essence of impostor syndrome.
