  • Their goal is to make the US, Russia. A kleptocracy where they are the Mafia deciding who can profit while skimming the fat from the top.

It's not that complicated and they are not that smart or original.

We saw version 1, the Trump family inserting themselves in deals with kleptocrats of all kinds. Now they're preparing for the industrialised version.

  • "That's according to a Monday report from The Wall Street Journal. Given Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion late last year, the markdown would put the company's current valuation at about $23 billion, based on Ark's estimate."

$23b is what it was actually valued before Musk crazily overpaid for it and took over.

Now, that estimate comes from an investor that financed part of that purchase (so they're already suspect for paying double the odds back then) that still thinks there's a great future ahead for Twitter under Musk - so it's wildly optimistic.

The real value you could find someone paying for it would be more likely in the mid single digits.

  • But you see, the profit motive of business is sacred, that's why it doesn't occur to them to ask. It's blasphemy. Of course they'll minimise their wage bill. How else will they compete with other businesses? Etc. The idea that executives should be prosecuted for hiring undocumented workers below market value doesn't occur to them - they think it's easier to stop humans from crossing the border.

  • Without having investigated the plug in itself, going by just what you posted: That's not likely to be a nefarious request, the plug-in needs to store data on your computer. Dealing with large number of titles it makes sense that it would cache things on your computer to minimise overtaxing their servers, to serve you more or less the same data over and over.

  • It is very funny, but just in case there is anyone out there like me..

Having only ever seen the word written and in the context of Linux that is capitalised, I always supposed it was pronounced g.n.u. or at worst nu, and thought the wildebeest was a logo of no relation - like Linux and the penguin.

It was only later in life I found out that gnu was pronounced gah-noo and was in fact another name for wildebeests.
