  • Get a cheap barebone or a second hand NUC without a drive, a Zigbee USB stick and some ZB lightbulbs and power plugs. Install home-assistant. Automate your home. Warning, it's very fun and rewarding, but also addictive and totally a rabbit hole that you can keep tweaking and improving indefinitely.

  • Every time I read of issues like this, I so much wish ha devs could be bothered to complement the rolling release as it is today with a quarterly "stable" branch that gets all the bug fixes and patches but none of the monthly new features.

The stable branch could lag 3 months in features, it doesn't matter with latest features when all you want is a recently patched and updated system that runs your house without going bzzpth.

  • Yeah, the Bikini Atoll was a testing ground for nukes, but that's not the reason they are strangely hollow outlines of islands.

As far as I understand it, it's because there were islands formed from underwater volcanic eruptions, but over time the inner islands sunk and eroded away and what makes up the island today are actually the surfaced parts of the once surrounding coral reef.

  • Because december is consumerism celebration burn all the money month and January is poor af.

  • I'm skeptical anything good will come out of it, but I'm glad if I'm wrong. Meta is about making money. The fediverse is a direct competitor to everything and anything they do. I don't think Meta is interested in integrating with the fediverse. I think they want to dominate the fediverse. But that's just me.

  • That's true. Food prep is great for the economy and also for the soul. You can generally find larger amounts cheaper per weight and it's nice to know them you get home and are tired that there is some good food waiting to be reheated.

  • Cook your own food. Ready made meals will always be made with as much cheap non nutritional filler as possible. Learn how to use a few spices, buy produce that is cheap with the season and keep track of weekly discounts in your local stores. It will save you money, you'll eat better and it's rewarding to have a tasty meal in the end.

Also I'm surprised how many people don't seem to understand pricing in general. When comparing prices, see the price per weight or volume. That is money/kilogram or money/liter (substitute with freedom units). Money per package can be deceiving if you compare 75 money for a smaller package or 95 money for a larger.

Edit: If the need to learn spices makes you overwhelmed, start out with some spice mixes! Pick a couple of different blends that are different, like one Cajun Mix and one Mediterranean and one oh idk something else culturally generic. Also salt, pepper, paprika and bullion. There. You can make lots of different sorts of foods and learn on the way what spices you like. Don't be afraid to experiment. Don't get discouraged. Some stuff will turn out meh, but others will make you go wow. All of those are learning experiences for the future!

  • Yay! More single use disposable garbage!

  • Yep. The self regulating market is either utopian vision by blind idealists or double speak for maximizing profits and fucking over anybody and anything while doing it.

  • That sounds very exotic and different from anything or anywhere I've experienced. Mind sharing some pictures of the place and the surroundings?

  • Yes, with secret missions and drugs and hookers. Tunnel snakes rule!

  • What are subways?

  • Fag Hag, as I understand it, is the term for women that predominantly seek out and integrate with a crowd of gay men to party with. Being straight and having one or a few gay friends doesn't make anyone anything.

  • It gets in the way by you having great times with your bestie, joking around, being open and chill. Then something, maybe one of you, maybe something external, triggers the old lizard brain. "Hey", your brain goes. "You know, this is great. They are great. This would be a great person for reproduction and this a great time for the horizontal fandango!". But this is your bestie, this is not why you're here. Your conscious brain does not want to do the sexy sex with them but your primal urges do. You're in a state of conflict in your brain, trying to rid yourself from one of those essential parts of your very being. What is worse, they have either triggered on the same thing or picked up something subconsciously and they are in the same state. Instead of being all relaxed and fun and open, you are both self conscious and stiff and trying to play it off. And you hate every second of it.

  • Why is it so fucking hard for company executives to just be a decent human being? Damn.

  • Of course it comes down to the individuals but those are my treasured personal recollections with the lesbian women I've been closer friends with. A special open and relaxed vibe that different from the special vibes I have with other friends. Even with my best female friends that we'd never smash our genitals together, regardless we have in the past or not, the sexual part in the back of the brain is always there even when the frontal lobe says nope. We don't just don't have the same mutual chill.

  • I think all people are affected by their sexuality, regardless how proper and civilized we are. It's that mammalian thingymajingy we just can't escape, none of us. From what I've read even asexuals are at times struggling with their libido pulling strings from the back of their brain.
