we also don’t refuse to allow people to have small amounts of it accessible to them at all times or call it absolutely bad outright just because when used in a malicious way or left to be uncontrollable in particular situations it can be dangerous. shrug.

water can and has drowned people. i fail to see your point.

my choosing to engage with something that might not be true isn’t hurting anyone. i’m a solo practitioner of a non christian faith. :p of course the truth matters, but when staring at it makes you actively suicidal and feel like everything lacks meaning, why not make use of the circuitry our brains evolved with, and let a little bit of What If light the path forward?

Makes me feel more assured and will reduce my suffering until I die. After my death, regardless of if I am right or wrong, the net positive of having had the soothing idea of a larger meaning can’t and won’t be retroactively undone. So why the hell not?

sometimes i think about that kid in the experiment who was sat down and told to wait some time before eating the sweetness put in front of him

that his patience would bring a reward

and i think about how they laughed when he didn’t succeed in waiting and instead crammed the entire gummy bear into his mouth the second they left

looking so guilty afterward

the way they gloated and collected data and prognosticated about his future job prospects and potential success-
certainly not as good as those who waited, they said

it was something about self-control

i know all too well that when he got home there were probably no sweets
or if there were, they were there for a moment only
before being snatched away by either cruel hands or circumstance,

no guarantee that promises meant anything, much less that they were kept.

if it had been me in that chair
i’d have eaten it too.

whew boy, this needs some self reflection from the person who posted it and anyone who upvoted.

my family would dye the eggs as a big event, and then store them in the fridge and eat them. i never knew people would just throw them away.

we are also german, though- we do the whole popping a hole in the shell and blowing the inside out in order to make the decorative ones that one leaves at room temperature.

how irrational to dye them and then let them spoil.

you realise you can eat the dyed eggs, right?
