Thanks - Looking at the man page, It looks like I would want --update in this case as it would cause the newer version to be present in both directories afterward.

Sounds like a Chromebook with extra steps. Today you can install "Cloudready" to turn your desktop/laptop into something very much like a Chromebook.

Are you in a tech support role at work? If so are you supporting Linux boxes, either servers or desktops? If yes then stick with BASH and learn VI - not because it is better, but because it comes with almost every distro (a small number install nano instead). If not, try out all the new stuff and see what suits you.

Is there some way you could have your web server log who scrapes the site? If you disallow ChatGPT and still find that it has scraped your site would you have cause to sue? @legaleagle (or anyone else too)

Actually, I think it might take a whole "open source" company - the printer itself is sold assembled at a profit (Much more expensive than printers today) but it can be assembled from available plans and off-the-shelf parts. The control inside the computer would probably be something a lot like a Raspberry Pi.

The ink is provided at the actual cost, and the formula for the ink is available.

The firmware is downloaded from the host computer on printer power-up, so that can be fully open source- allowing the user to correct or add functionality. Perhaps driven by a high-level "printer language" that would make writing printer firmware easy to understand and update.

Somehow my Ublock origin got turned off, I turned it back on. I use FreeTube to watch the channels I am subscribed to. I go to YouTube itself to watch things I search for.

After an install - Geogeba now works too.

Thanks for all your suggestions! I uninstalled ca-certificates-java and minecraft-launcher , and when I did that the others were removed also. then I re-installed the Minecraft.deb that I had downloaded from Mojang's site and now Minecraft is working. Next, I will investigate Geogebra.

Mine has only to go to the other side of my office, no need for the item you propose. But it would be useful for someone who wanted to interact with a printer much further away.

Hmm strange - If one were to do that is the cable still available for ethernet at the same time? (as in a USB <> Ethernet bridge)

I am using "Generic PCL laserprinter" and it seems to be working well enough now.

One becomes very understanding of the guys with baseball bats wailing on that poor printer.
