  • I installed it on my Desktop, replacing LMDE. Unfortunately I have trouble running the one game that I play even though it works on Linux with Steam. It worked in Linux Mint, but for some reason it won't start in Bazzite. Surely it's because I have an Nvidia graphics card, but that wasn't a problem with Linux Mint.

Another problem that I ran into was Firefox (flatpak) crashing all the time. Luckily you just have to disable wayland using Flatseal, but I still get graphics glitches with it.

I'm thinking of restoring my Linux Mint backup.

I don't know why I'm responding to your comment, I just wanted to share my experience, I guess.

  • What do you mean by PC? Just asking because sometimes people use PC to refer to a computer that runs Windows. Just sort of how the vernacular ended up going over the years.

I can't help, but even with Windows I think they have a way to run Linux stuff on it now, so it should be possible.

  • This has changed quite a lot. Starting pay at regional airlines varies, but it is close to $100,000/year now.

This all happened right after the pandemic. Airlines did a lot of early retirements because nobody knew how long the industry would be in the dumps. As it turns out, there was a ton of pent up travel demand, so not only did airlines have to attract people to replace the retired pilots, but also for growth.

You're right, though. It used to be closer to $20,000/year back in 2005, and only went up slightly over the 15 year period leading up to the pandemic.

  • I've watched one YouTube video of a talk he did and thought he was an odd duck with a lot of good ideas.

What stuck with me the most was "use free software, and be ready for it to lack convenience".

I'm sorry if struggling (if that's the right word) with that right now, because I'm interested in switching to OsmAnd instead of Google maps for navigation, but there's no traffic or road closure info. There's also no Android Auto option, as far as I'm aware.

  • My local roaster is Quartertone Coffee. I'm wearing their tee-shirt right now.

I also like Dunkin when I make it at home. I find their stores to be inconsistent, though. Sometimes they brew it properly and it's delicious, and sometimes it's weak and doesn't taste very good.

  • I'm wondering who taught you that. There's an overwhelming amount of evidence, proof, and reason for evolution. It makes absolute sense, is simple, and easy to comprehend if you're willing to open your mind and disregard what religion has tried to teach you.

There are lots of good explanations out there, so I won't bother trying -- but basically the most difficult thing to understand about evolution is the incredible amount of time it took to get us to where we are today. Once you see that drawn out visually, it makes a lot more sense.

It's not something you can believe or not believe, because it's fact. Instead, you either accept it or don't accept it. Most people accept the existence of gravity because it's so easily demonstrated. Once you give evolution a minute of your time, it's equally easy to accept.

  • I used to mount network attached storage in /mnt until I had problems accessing it from a Snap. In searching for a solution it was pointed out that snaps are correct in being sandboxed from these types of folders, and users like myself are making things difficult for ourselves by using those system folders.

They said the best practice would be to mount them in a folder in your home directory. I've switched to doing that and it works great.
